I just watched (or attempted to watch) The Crusades – Crescent and the Cross. Holy Bias!
I was compelled to turn it off half-way through, because, as a Christian, I could not take another second of it. The narrator actually said, of the Christians, – and I quote – ” Murder and slaughter of the innocents had become the hallmark of the first Crusade.” Christians were described as barbarians and lovers of war. While I am well aware that there were atrocities committed by both parties, the bloodshed that occurred in the name of Allah, was never mentioned. The film crew followed a school teacher, of Middle Eastern descent, as he took Muslim school children on a field trip to one of the battle sites. The teacher explained to the small children – in graphic detail, I might add – how Christians butchered, burned alive and decapitated even small children, in what he described as war crimes. The young pupils, understandably, were horrified by these stories. If this is what they are teaching them, it’s no wonder many Muslim children are raised to hate Christians. There was no balance whatsoever in this documentary. Being that there is so much conroversy surrounding the Crusades, is it too much to ask that a network called “The History Channel” show both sides?
