I recently booked an Airbnb through Andrew Korge and Rebeca Orozco of SoFLA vacations. The process was a little confusing because there were a couple listings with similar pictures, but I booked the one that looked like what I wanted and emailed them with the pictures to confirm that's what I was getting. They replied that, yes, this is what I booked.

We were super excited about it, taped a picture of it to our refrigerator as a reminder of where we'd be in June, and finally made it there and got ourselves checked in at the desk. We walked into the room only to find it was completely different, without the expansive view of the ocean advertised and much less window coverage.

I, being the trusting person I am, assumed it was a mistake and called the hosts, only to be told that the "algorithm" had switched us to another room because another customer booking a much longer stay was being put in the room we were in. They told me I did not book a specific room, but a "type" of room, and tried to convince me the rooms were comparably desirable. Mind you, one of them faces southeast to Biscayne Bay with expansive views of the ocean while the other is on the southwest side of the building that faces expansive views of treetops.

I was pretty surprised by the lack of reason or empathy on the part of people who are essentially trying to be in the hospitality industry (though I recognize it's probably more of a real estate business to them). While I can appreciate that there may not have been malicious intent directed at me, their inability to understand why someone would have a problem with this particular switch and/or not seeing it as an issue worthy of communicating prior to check-in was not acceptable to me.

Check out the pictures: are these comparable?

Desired outcome: I request the host to cover the remaining $229.06 that Airbnb did not discount for the last-second replacement booking I needed.
