ServiceToday! scam. my furnace was working just fine before they came in to do a so-called "routine inspection

scam. my furnace was working just fine before they came in to do a so-called "routine inspection". they did not attempt to discuss anything they were going to be doing with me and they expected me to pay $500. they didn't really have any legitimate paperwork. there was no phone number or contact info on any documents from them. the letter they did leave behind only talked about a failed inspection and red flags. it was as if all the techs go into each appointment knowing they will fail whoever is being inspected and then once they go in and work on the furnace and boiler, they will find a problem or manifest a problem. my furnace was quiet and worked perfectly but after the tech came and tweaked on my furnace for half the day, he just ended up leaving with everything turned off and told me that work could not be operated on the equipment due to safety and precautions. he just said that he was leaving and that someone difference with a different company will come out to fix the issue. this is so I professional and sketchy!

DONT USE THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU HAVE $ TO THROW AWAY! Had to have a shut off valve looked at on my bathroom sink water line because I couldn't stop the leak. I replaced it myself and have done these before. But for some reason this new one I could not get to stop leaking. I gave up and called Service Today. They said it was going to be a $79 service charge to come out. I agreed and they came out the next day. He was able to fix the leak and took him all of 15-20 minutes. He put on his own valve and tightened it a lot harder than I may have done because I was told not to over tighten. Looks like you can tighten these pretty good. So the leak has stopped and I was charged $442.00. I agreed to the price because I needed my water turned back on. But are you kidding me? $442 for a 15 minute job and a $10 part! Think about that before using this company.

Furnace problems during the coldest temperatures of the winter. They arrived fairly promptly, were courteous, but didn't seem to know what they were doing. They had to come out multiple times and never really solved my problem. They were in such a hurry to leave. If they would have taken the time to see it through, they wouldn't have had to come out multiple times. They wanted to charge a trip charge each time they came out (no way!). Very expensive, and for what?!? Do not use this company.

ServiceToday! On February 28, 2022 I called Service Today, because my furnace was not working

On February 28, 2022 I called Service Today, because my furnace was not working. Nick came over and diagnosed my furnace and said that the blower motor was not working. He mentioned he could fix it and do a couple over things such as clean the blower chamber and calibrate a couple things. He kind of mumbled these things so I didn't get a clear understanding of what else he was doing. He told me the cost would be just over $1,800. I told him that the cost seemed very high, but to go ahead and do it. I just kept thinking how could it be so much. This is such a rip off. I asked for an invoice when he was done and he said he would e-mail me one. I wanted to see a break down of the pricing. He sent me one, but it was very vague and didn't itemize anything. On top of all this he told me another representative would be coming out tomorrow to look at my static pressure, because it was high and that could be more money. The next day the representative called me and I told him not to come. I was still very upset and I just felt like this company was a scam. I just pictured them trying to get thousands more out of me and the furnace is over 10 years old. The representative said someone would call me and discuss my issue. No one ever called. I called again and spoke to someone named Jenny. She said it looked like I had been charged incorrectly, but the owner was out of town. Someone would call me back in a few days. No one called back. I called back again a couple days later and spoke to the receptionist. I was told someone would call me back. No one called. I've been waiting about two weeks now.

ServiceToday! ServiceToday!

ServiceToday! Scammers. Yesterday I received three outrageous estimates (6.5k, 2.5k, & 1.2k) for work on my 1996 slant fin furnace / boiler. I fixed it in 30 minutes for $20. Prices in parenthesis show cost of item/cost with labor based on online estimates for each job. One was for $6,500 to add a magnetic boiler filter ($240/$500), replace a pressure release valve ($23/$125) and backflow preventer ($56/$250), add fernox stabilizer ($98/$200) to the 40 gallons of boiler water, and fix a very slow leak in the gas line inlet ($20/$125). The next was for $2500 and did not include the magnetic boiler filter. The final one was for $1200 to just fix the gas leak and replace the backflow preventer. The technician noted that the boiler pressure was up at 28 psi and there was evidence that the pressure release valve had triggered. After he left, I checked all the radiators and none had air in them when I opened the bleed valve. I got a bucket and drained 2 gallons of water from the boiler to lower the boiler pressure back to 15 psi. I noted that the boiler water was clear. While shopping for other things, I bought a new brass gas fitting - shut off the gas leading to the boiler, unscrewed the fitting, added pipe dope and screwed the fitting in place & bubble leak tested. Actual cost of job? 30 minutes of my time (we could say an hour - since I did have to go to the store) & $20 for a fitting. Oh, and the 30 psi pressure relief valve works just fine, with too much water it did probably trigger, that's why it read 28 psi (too high for sure, but not a bad valve). And the backflow preventer works just fine... No need to replace. Added note: 10 years ago another contractor checked my furnace and recommended replacement. Since then 5 other service technicians have checked my furnace (I do every 2 yrs) and none have noted any issues.

ServiceToday! This company is a complete joke

This company is a complete joke. I waited around all day, Saturday August 6 2022 for a technician who was to show up for 5:00 or after, or earlier if his day went well. Got to be after 5, so I called to find out how late they worked. Thus the torture began. They couldn't find me on the appointments list. Hang on, let them check something, long pause. I had been booked by a “new employee" and the message hadn't gotten to them. Hang on, let me call the tech. We don't do condos because of liability, they don't climb on roofs to get to the condenser coils. My heating/cooling unit is in a wall of my condo, and I open a grate to get to it. She continued to argue with me, asking over and over if something went to the roof. No, there's another unit above me and nothing goes up through my ceiling, through the two floors of their unit and on to the roof. I explain over and over what my situation. Then they only do private homes (which is what I have, a private condo) or side by side condos. They finally seem to understand what I'm talking about, and they come back with they don't have parts for my unit. By this time I'm in hysterics and crying and my condo is at 80 plus degrees. I had been told that this was an “emergency" call, but if I joined their service club (or whatever) they'd knock off the $250 emergency fee and I'd get 10% off this and that. I thought it sounded like gross overkill for a unit like mine, but said okay, just to get the $250 knocked off this call. Then she wanted me to process payment on the phone, which I very wisely declined. She said the technician could process the payment. From reading the other reviews here, I am counting my lucky stars they never came. BEWARE. Slick fast talkers who don't know their AC / heating units like any pro should. There are 122 units in my condos, so there must be someone who works on them. The condo association doesn't know either.

ServiceToday! My furnace went out and so I called Service Today and they said all I would pay is the service fee

My furnace went out and so I called Service Today and they said all I would pay is the service fee. I asked them if there were an additional cost and the lady told me know over the phone before I committed to having them come out to look at my furnace. When the tech arrived he got here before 5PM so Ill I had to pay was the $79.00 service fee instead of the emergency Fee of $249.00. Then he pulls out a book and states that in order to diagnosis my furnace that it would be $349.00 since my furnace was 12 years old. Almost all companies only charge a service fee which includes diagnostics. My husband and I were desperate to know what was wrong so we agreed to pay this even though we were lied too over the phone. After the technician did his diagnostics he showed us 3 options for fixing our furnace. The one he was trying to sell us cost $5499.00. I asked the tech if he had any idea of what a new furnace would cost around and he couldn't tell me anything. We were stuck between a rock and a hard place and we decided to just order the part that was broken which cost $2090.00. I did not feel right about the whole thing so I called another company. The next morning I called before business hours and talked with a lady and I told her that I decided to go with another company and how I felt about the whole situation with her company and that I wanted the part that I ordered and returned to my credit card. The lady told me she would make a note on my account. I then get a call from the tech later that morning that he had picked the part up and is ready to come install it. I called Service today after that and talked to another lady about returning the part and getting a refund and I mentioned the above issues with her. I heard back from them again and they refunded me my money but then charged me a 15% restocking fee which was $300.00 since their tech picked up the part even though I told them not to. So I feel scammed and they ripped me off. Stay far away from this company

ServiceToday! We had Service Today out to our house for a drain problem

We had Service Today out to our house for a drain problem. They came out for a 169.00 trip charge. They stated that they would snake through the toilet. He took the toilet out and started to snake the drain, was in there for around a couple of hours and stated that the snake got stuck. Well they stated that being that the house was old that the way the pipes were put in they couldn't go through all the way. He then said they would have to have a water jetting done. That didn't work, the line broke and they had to have another crew bring a new machine out. They stated that it would not work that they were going to send another tech out the next day. That charge was 1,200.00. the next day they came and went through the crawl space and through the main line and said that it wouldn't go through again, even though they stated that they were for certain that it would work UNLESS the pipe had collapsed. When asked to show us the video they went to their truck and were in there for around 40 min and came back in. They showed us a video but you couldn't see anything and they stated that they could only get out to 51 feet and then it was hitting something. They went back in their truck for another 40 min and came back with and estimate of 32,000.00 and then 25,000.00, and then 10,000.00 estimate. I about had a heart attack. That was to dig up the yard, put in PVC pipe than insulate the pipe only to the house. I am sorry but that is A LOT of money. We have already given them over 3,000.00. So our friend came over and he stated that was crazy. So we let the guys know that we are going to get a second company to come out for an estimate. The tech got angry and said that we were ready to sign and that they were going to do the work until your friend came and now you want to stall the process. He was not happy. Later in the day my husband and I thought you know what, lets see what happens if we use the water, in the house, flush the toilet, take a shower, was a load of laundry.. well everything is working good. So I do not think there is anything wrong with the pipe to the street. I am going to monitor the pipe and see what happens but I know that I will NOT be using them for sure. I don't trust them at all.

ServiceToday! I would caution anyone to use this company

I would caution anyone to use this company. They told me a kitchen faucet was worth over $900 and when I went on- line to register it, I found out it retailed for under $300. Then they charged me $1000 to install it. I was ripped off and mislead and would not give them any stars.

ServiceToday! Well it appears this company doesn't care about bad reviews since there still pulling the same stuff

Well it appears this company doesn't care about bad reviews since there still pulling the same stuff. Anyway the other day our furnace quit working, & unfortunately, since both my wife & myself suffer from health conditions that are affected by cold conditions, we had to get it fixed immediately. This is MN & you never know what the next weather system will be. Anyway called the # for Air Tech who we used in the past, but Service Today is who responded. I guess they bought the other company out? Anyway they called us about 9:30 & told us they'd be out shortly. And they came about 10 minutes later, I explained the situation & he proceeded to sit down in front of the furnace & started taking the covers off. He was there for about 2 hours & then told us he needed to speak to me. One of the things he did during the 2 hrs was to check on a warranty, since we assumed it was on warranty. Unfortunately, it wasn't which is another issue but doesn't have anything to do with these guys. He started explaining this diagnostic crap & the levels of service & of course it was going to cost additional dollars to perform this diagnostic. I then asked well what's wrong with furnace? He informed me that he didn't know, so for 2 hrs all he did was confirm that no warranty existed & who knows what else. He then started pushing this diagnostic crap, in fact , I got the impression that if I didn't choose one, the furnace may not be fixed. So I chose one & told him to fix the damn furnace. It turned out to be the blower motor had went out. He went & got the motor and proceeded to repair it. Actual repair was maybe an hour & a half, but he was there for almost 5 hours.it appears to be working fine, of course, there's no warranty for the work done. After he was done he asked if there was anything else he could do. I told him to get the hell out of my house. My recommendation is if your looking to be screwed over, this is the company for you. They had no problem taking advantage of senior citizens with life threatening health conditions, these are your guys.

ServiceToday! 'Service Today's came to our house to fix a leaky faucet

'Service Today's came to our house to fix a leaky faucet. They charged us $535 but it was not fixed. The problem is WORSE than before he came. Now if the MAIN water supply is on, hot water shoots uncontrollably out of the faucet. 'Service Now's will not refund or repair this problem. 'Service Now scammed us out of more than $500 dollars and made the problem much more urgent.

ServiceToday! On June 4, I called Service Today to diagnose the problem with an air conditioner in a rental unit

On June 4, I called Service Today to diagnose the problem with an air conditioner in a rental unit. They charged a $249 trip charge and a $199 diagnosis fee. I was initially told that the thermostat, which had just been replaced a few months ago, wasn't working. They charged $400 to install what I later discovered is a $40 thermostat. To make matters worse, that wasn't the problem. In reality, the refrigerant was very low, and the air conditioner wasn't working properly which caused problems with the compressor. The air conditioner was running; it just wasn't cooling. I am asking for a full refund for the thermostat, or $400.

ServiceToday! The Electrician came out, looked at the electrical box (with his eyes) and stated he did not see anything wrong

The Electrician came out, looked at the electrical box (with his eyes) and stated he did not see anything wrong. But to investigate it further he would need to "hook up" his tools. He pulls out a pamphlet and show me a list of options. And to investigate further would be $700. We called my Home Warranty Company and they said-No way and that I should get another electrician asap. I was not told upon making the appt that this was a trip charge only that it would cost more to diagnose the issue. I stated that was a lot to see why the microwave was flipping the breaker. He stated, it could be so many things, that why he needed to hook up his tools for a correct diagnosis.

ServiceToday! I called about a leak under my main bathroom sink

I called about a leak under my main bathroom sink. By the time the technician left, he told me to replace the water heater and water softener as well as fix the leak or all my faucets would need replacement. After he left, the water line to my refrigerator wasn't working. They came out and told me I needed a new refrigerator or new motor. Another place told me it is just a frozen water line. I am now out $7900 for items that didn't need to be replaced. I feel as a single woman and teacher beginning the school year (and short on time) was taken advantage of. I don't believe I needed to replace the water heater or water softener. I also am shocked he told me to replace my refrigerator. This is all very sketchy to me.

ServiceToday! Hi, I called Service Today to schedule an electrician home visit

Hi, I called Service Today to schedule an electrician home visit. I was told the cost of this visit would be $79. Upon arrival, the electrician entered my home and let me know to look at anything, he would need to charge several hundred more dollars, but that would include minor fixes. This put the total at $691.00. The electrician wasn't appropriately wearing a mask and constantly degraded women making electrical decisions. He was called for two issues - a flickering light and a light that went off. He left, collecting the money, claiming to have fixed both. He pointed out that we did have an outdated electrical setup, which would total $13,000+ to fix. The issues weren't fix. The light still flickers and the other still shuts off yet we paid $691. Other Yelp reviews show similar stories of being charged hundreds for absolutely no service. This is an unjust organization.

ServiceToday! I just moved into a home and wanted to have some specific work done

I just moved into a home and wanted to have some specific work done. An appointment was scheduled for the work, but the representative showed up not to do the work, but to up sell me using inappropriate scare tacticts and aggressive sales techniques. I agreed to an inspection under duress to the tune o f almost $500. The representative and his partner began pulling off light and outlet covers. In the end we were talked into financing for nearly $20,000 of the options ranging between that and $50,000 which we have since declined. In the process of the "inspection" they broke an outlet in my kitchen and have not even offered to send somebody to repair it. In the end, we are $482 poorer with a broken outlet and the work I hired them to do remains undone. The sadest thing is that the representative used to be a friend so he says he gave us the friends and family discount making the $50,000 bill only $37,000.

ServiceToday! We had to have our primary toilet Reset and the closet flange replaced

We had to have our primary toilet Reset and the closet flange replaced. The salesman gave us a quote saying “that we wouldn't like". That quote was $1450.00 minus a $55.00 coupon which brought the final cost to $1399.00. I should have waited and gotten another quote but I'm handicapped and we were concerned that waiting for another quote may have been a safety issue. The salesman said they would maybe have to send out 2 technicians and it would take most of the day to complete the job. The next day one technician showed up and he was on-site for 3 1/2 hours. The majority of his time was replacing the flange and it only took him 45 minutes to reseat the toilet. I requested a breakdown of the cost which they sent me the next day. That breakdown is $535.00 for resetting the toilet and $919.00 for replacing the flange. Subsequently, I got quotes from 2 other plumbers and one quote was $800.00 and the other $500.00. While the work they completed was very good and the technician was professional. I feel that they totally took advantage of my wife and me who are seniors on social security and handicapped.

ServiceToday! On October 8 I contacted Service Today due to a broken water heater

On October 8 I contacted Service Today due to a broken water heater. On the phone they quoted me the price of $79. for a technician to look at my water heater and recommend either a repair or replacement and provide me quotes. When the technician arrived at my house, he asked if I wanted a diagnostic and I said yes, believing it was the $79 price. At the end of the visit, the technician provided me quotes which were outrageous (quote was over $3,500 to get up to code and typical cost is about $1,100 of the price so I will also be filing a price gouging complaint with MN AG office). When the technician discovered I was not buying through them he told me my cost was approximately $350. When I questioned the amount he said he will lower it to $243. I continued to question the amount and he said the $79 only included the trip charge and not the diagnostic, which is NOT how it was explained to me on the phone (Bait and Switch). At this point, I felt the technician's demeanor changed from very friendly and personable to a point where felt I was being taken advantage of and he started standing closer to me and was not respecting socially distance guidelines ... I was nervous and I wanted him out of my house so I paid the $243. I immediately requested a refund from Service Today for the difference in price. The next morning I woke and found my broken water heater was left turned on and was leaking gas due to it being left turned on; the technician did not turn off the water heater when he was done looking at it. I also found that he left the garage faucet on and water was dripping water into my garage(which I still don't understand why he needed to turn that faucet on). When I noticed these things, I requested a full refund from Service Today since they had not done any work and only created additional problems. I have not heard back from them regarding either of my refund requests.

ServiceToday! We contacted Service Today!

We contacted Service Today! to assist with installing smart thermostats. On 2/01, Service Today! sent a technician named Hudson. He requested to see the furnace. My wife was watching our 2-year-old at the time upstairs, and I was on a work video call. He informed my wife that our furnace appeared to have several serious issues, the biggest being a carbon monoxide leak. Out of fear, she agreed to a furnace inspection, which cost us $1,429. According to Service Today!, the following issues were discovered: "Static pressure is through the roof, compromises found on the secondary heat exchanger, bottom right far corner. Lots of water damage on gas fuel/electrical outlet. Gas leak found on the nipple between the tree and the two fireplace gas lines." We were told the levels of the monoxide leak (which are not in his notes) was enough that it could kill small animals of which we have three. We were extremely concerned for our safety. Another technician came out to verify his findings. We asked multiple times if it was OK for us to be in our home because of the leaks. We were told that we would be OK but to keep the furnace off. They brought in two space heaters for us to use given the cold. When they left, my gut felt like something wasn't right. After they left, we immediately called Center Point Energy, and they sent a technician within an hour who confirmed that we did NOT have any leaks. He told us as a licensed professional there was nothing wrong with our furnace. Since then, we called our home warranty company, CINCH, who sent out a licensed HVAC technician from Majestic Custom Heating & Air Conditioning who also confirmed there was nothing wrong with it (including the secondary heat exchange).
