BEWARE of Safeway located at 179 Branham Lane, San Jose and their lack of customer service or safety for their customers. I have been shopping at Safeway for over 30 years. Around 3 pm today on January 25, 2022 I was "pickpocketed" and I had a backpack purse on. My wallet was taken out of my purse that was on my back. The managers were two young men and they never asked me if I was okay. They kept saying that maybe I left my wallet in my car or somewhere else, they were passing the buck with horrible customer service. They were so casual about it and they didn't offer to help me retrace my steps. They brushed me off and then I called corporate in Arizona they were casual too. The manager told me to call the police so I did and then I filed a report. First I parked my car then I went to CEFU ATM next to Safeway, got cash and put it in my wallet, closed my purse then walked into Safeway to get a few things. When I went to self-checkout my wallet was gone. I couldn't believe it. It took 1.5 hours for the police to get there. Carry a cross-body purse or don't carry a purse at all. Maybe someone saw me go the atm and followed me.
Desired outcome: I would like a call from the manager above the two people on staff today and have my issue addressed.
Safeway found my wallet because someone brought it to the manager. The police returned it to my house. I am happy not complaining.
