S And J Engines review: Marine ford 460 long block engine

Do not buy engines from this company!
To all my fellow fisherman and guides, if you need a marine engine for your boat to keep you fishing, or just on the water in general do not buy a marine engine from s and j engines. I purchased a marine ford 460 from s and j in December 2020, my initial interactions with them were great. Got my motor when they said I would. My motor was in need of replacing being on the water constantly 4-5 times a week running all day. I got a lot of years and hours out of the motor that was in my 24' weld craft. Figured it was time to get a new long block so I wouldn't have to worry about breaking down on the water. Any boat captain knows you have to keep your motor in tip top shape or you can get stranded on a river or lake with clients or family with (if your lucky) a second kicker motor. My motor was installed and ran great through the break in period. I got pictures and video of the installation and the engine running great. It lasted about an hour! Major failure out on the California delta, luckily my kicker got me back to my slip. I called and left messages with s and j, emails. No response for weeks. Finally got a response from the warranty dept. They told me to remove the heads on the long block that I had just purchased. Removed the heads on the new motor I bought and found numerous stuck valves that had struck the pistons. It's been 4 months with no returned emails, no returned calls, I have documented everything and I hope this (one of many to come) reviews helps someone not lose thousands of dollars, given to a company that has the worst customer service and product I have ever seen. Even if you have to wait weeks, or months for your motor from a different company, do it. S and j engines don't stand by their product and will not respond to anything you send them
