On 3.7.23, my husband, two sons and I checked into Royalton Splash in Punta Cana. This would have been our 3rd stay at a Royalton resort in 18 months. The first two were amazing. Not this one. We arrived at the resort at 2:00 PM. Upon check in, the front desk clerk attempted to get us to upgrade to the Diamond club. We did not upgrade and his demeanor changed immediately. He was gruff, and told us our room would be ready in 20 minutes, that housekeeping was still in the room. Hours later, we got into our rooms at 6:30 PM. The rooms faced a back access road and the smell of raw sewage was so bad we could not even sit out on our balcony. Despite confirming two beds in my son's room twice, my two adult sons had to share one bed. Despite confirming that I had really bad osteoarthritis in both knees and would need to be in a building with an elevator, we were placed on the third floor of a non elevator building. The lines to get into restaurants were a half hour wait, only to be told to return in two hours and they could seat us. This happened three times before we finally went to the buffet. The resort is huge, but we could never seem to get on one of the buggies that drive people around the resort as they were always full. But here is the real reason we left. At 2:00 AM, the couple in the room next to us began having a domestic physical fight, with screaming, etc. It sounded like the guy was repeatedly throwing the girl up against the wall that abutted our headrest. It was very scary. It continued for a long time, and I finally called security. They got them to stop, but I gathered up my family and checked out the next day. We checked into a different resort and it was lovely. They asked me to file a complaint for the manager, so I took the time to write one out, but despite requesting a refund for the days the four of us did not use (6 days), they have repeatedly refused. If this does not get resolved, I will never stay at a Royalton resort again. Which is actually their loss, because we spent a fortune staying at a bungalow in Antigua and took ourselves and three family members to their Jamaica Negril resort and loved both of these stays. We work extremely hard for our money, so for them to just out and out refuse to refund us is outrageous to me.
