Furniture were seriously infected by mould after 3 months used and condition became worse and wort after 6 months. Irresponsible Dealer explained that furniture were not under warranty and asked me to locate the manufacturer after trying few methods but yet problem not solved in the end... spending ten thousand plus to purchase such sickening furniture, I don't think that I need to keep silent without taking any action towards this dealer. Rossinie Furniture locate at Jalan Molek 1/9, Johor Bahru and their main buyers were from Singapore as they provide free delivery to Singapore especially focus on Woodlands Area. I wish to get the full compensation from them as I have suffered since the incident happend until now which dealer keep dragging in the initial stage and until our umpteen times of chasing and we have also tried ourselves here to solve the problem like placing the mosit absorber and do the cleaning job, but yet it doesn't work. Please help to pursue...

Dear readers,

This case was brought to the Consumer's Court in Johor Bahru, and this customer who had purchased the furniture did not turn up for the final hearing because he / she realised that they were at fault themselves for negligence in the upkeep of their purchased furniture.

Mould growth takes place because of environmental factors that the furniture is being placed in. According to the statements given by the customer at the consumer court, he admitted that they were not always at home as they were both at work, thus keeping the windows and doors locked most of the time. This thus increases the chances of mould growth due to the dark conditions and the lack of ventilation. While we have recommended the customer to purchase dehumidifiers to alleviate the problem, they have insisted that it was the defect of the furniture and refused to acknowledge their mistake. At the first court hearing, they were told by the judge that unless they could get a specialist to certify that the mould was indeed growing because of the quality of the furniture, there was no ground for a complaint as this was their fault in failing to take care of their furniture.

At the final hearing, the customer did not attend the hearing, and the case was closed by the judge due to absence of the customer who lodged the complaint, which we believe was because he was unable to find a specialist, or that the specialist had concluded that it was not the fault of the furniture to begin with.
