Abe Bates should be disbarred
Abe Bates should be disbarred! I can't believe he is still even a member of the Utah bar. He ripped off numerous clients (including myself), took their $4, 500+ upfront fee, did nothing on their cases, stopped returning phone calls, fired all of his employees (well, some of them quit because they finally realized how crazy and dishonest he is), yet he is still practicing law? I don't get it. I know for a fact he has more than 50 outstanding bar complaints against him. Also, look at all the complaints about him on this website alone. Clearly, not a good guy. If you have been ripped off by him too, do NOT be silent about it. You are not alone. Whatever you do, DO NOT hire or trust Abe Bates. Bad bad bad.

Dishonesty
Mr. Abe Bates, managing partner, is a liar, a cheat, and a THEIF. Almost a year ago my home was in foreclosure due to a dishonest mortgage company and we were advised to pay the reinstatement of 50K in order to strengthen our case. We did as he instructed and borrowed from parents the necessary funds and paid the fee. Mr Bates and his company told us that they had filed in federal court a case that we would win. We have since found out that he has fired all that ever worked on our case and that indeed he never filed the case at all. He took thousands from us ... charged us for work never done ... and now will not refund our money or even return our phone calls. I have followed him into his office where his staff have told me that he was out of the office and they did not know when he would return. I then walked into his office and he would not even talk to me or look into my eyes. As others, I feel that he has robbed my family. I have no problem saying to him that he is a theif, cheat, and liar. he has given the human race a bad name. I would not walk across the street to spit on him if he was on fire... or maybe I would! but nothing more.

Rip Off
This place takes your money, does nothing on your case, never returns your calls (and when you try to call no one works there anymore becuase they quit becuase Abe fires them or they think Abe is a pyschopath and they quit). Good luck getting your money back or any type of work done. This guy is a joke who cant put a sentence together as he speaks like a ###.

Agreed. Abe Bates should be disbarred. He rips off his clients and his employees, then blames them when anything goes wrong. He's in denial that he would ever do anything wrong. He's seriously crazy. Whatever you do, don't work with him. You'll regret it!

Abe Bates is incompetent. He studders, talks in circles and his website is full of MERS crap that all courts in Utah have rejected - yet Bates still will take your 4, 500 hard earned dollars and wasted it. He is a joke, and everytime you go to the office he has fired 5-10 new people. Avoid this place as he doesnt doe anything but take your money, try to explain your case while studdering the whole time and confusing you more than when you arrived. He has only been out of law school one year but evidently one a big verdict against Wells Fargo which is going to be appealled.

I agree with everything in this complaint. Abe Bates is a dishonest, delusional, and selfish individual who has no idea how to run a business. He takes advantage of both his clients' hard earned money and his employees' hard work only for his own personal gain. He claims that his firm, Wasatch Advocates, fights for the "little guy", when in reality, Abe Bates and his firm are no different than every other foreclosure rescue scheme out there. Unfortunately, Abe Bates and his firm, Wasatch Advocates, have completely run out of money and fired nearly every employee without prior notice. Perhaps he should have thought first before he purchased a nearly $100, 000 Audi with a license plate that says "BNKSLYR" (BANK SLAYER). Abe Bates is in denial that he engages in unethical business practices. He is a complete bully who will do whatever it takes to bring down good and honest people, even if he has to lie and scheme to do it. Abe Bates is quite possibly the worst human being I have ever met.
