Protective coatings for cars
I called and was quoted what was a fairly good price to have my Corvette filmed with a protective plastic coating. I opted for having the front bumper, fenders, the two rocker panels and the mirrors done. (as opposed to doing the whole car which is common) The girl quoted a price between $1200 and $1600. I took the car in on April 22nd this year and gave the man a $300 deposit. The next day when the car was supposed to be done they claimed that their guys couldn't do it and the company was going to fly in a specialist from Florida to do it but I would have to wait 2 weeks. I decided to wait and got a price to have my Tesla done as well because if the "specialist" was here, he could do both cars at once and the prices were good enough. Anyway, the "specialist" supposedly came in but somehow got sick while doing the Corvette and I would have to wait another few days for another "specialist". I did that and eventually the Corvette got done but when I went in to pay them (I inspected the work and it seemed good) they charged me $2218. The bill was loaded with nonsense "shop fees" double the Sales tax (I later googled the sales tax for that town and it was damn near double what it was listed as) and just more for the work. They didn't finish the job either. They forgot to do the headlights and said they would do them when I came in to pick up the Tesla. I very reluctantly let them do the Tesla because the work was right, the price, while high, it was close to some of the prices I had gotten, they were about to do the Tesla so there was no wait time for that, and they're a!/2 hour drive from my house and at this point in time I just wanted to get it over. They quoted me $1500 to do the Tesla, but it turned out to be $1700, supposedly that was because they don't include sales tax when the quote a price. (that was the excuse) I'm a tradesman for 43 years, known lots of contractors over the years, have family in the trades, a very similar situation as this business and I've never heard of giving a quote for a job and not including the sales tax in the quote, much less charging double for the tax, shop fees, etc. Then the stories about the "specialist flown in form Florida ', his getting sick and another one has to be flown in, you can't make this [censored] up. This is definitely one business to avoid.
Desired outcome: Would like some money back . Pay the prices I was quoted , or at least close .
The company refused to fix the problem and said that my insurance didn't cover it
I drove my car to Tint World and while they tinted my windows, they scratched them. I noticed it later, when there was sunshine outside and I called to the company again. I said that I paid for the insurance, so they must fix it for free. I was so surprised to hear that the company couldn’t do it, because it wasn’t included in the insurance. I think he lied to me and he didn’t want to solve this issue.
