I bought a home from them, and it turned out to be a home that was bought on auction from the government and was deemed uninhabitable and supposed to be sold for scrap or recreation only. It was one of the ones that made the residents sick after fema provided them to the survivors of hurricane katrina because it had dangerous levels of formaldehyde. Formaldehyde has been accept by the World Health Organization as a KNOWN cancer causing gas that is most likely to effect young children. They sold it to me as a home when I was 6 months pregnant.

They found out I was on disability and made me feel like the home they sold me was the only one I could afford because the electric bill would be too high in any of the other homes they had for sale.

When I learned about the formaldehyde problems in these particular homes I immediately bought a formaldehyde tester and contacted someone from the Sierra club to explain my test results. They said that the formaldehyde levels were probably as much as 1000 ppb at times and exposure at that level can cause some serious health problems.

I sent them a letter explaining that they sold me an unsafe home and they had a lawyer write me a letter claiming my home was not one of the ones with formaldehyde problems, when I responded with solid evidence that it was one of the ones, and it did have problems with formaldehyde I had already had the home tested.

I have requested a meeting with the owner but the lawyer won’t respond to me anymore. They do not appear concerned that they sold me an unsafe home and do not appear to be willing to even talk to me about making it right.
