I have been in the same unit for ten tears. My original contract rental agreement was with All Storage but the sold out to Public Storage. I pay my statement online monthly without fail never had a late charge. June 1, 2023, I logged in to pay my monthly rate for $ 374.00 as usual and was more than shocked to see my rate had jumped to $ 501.00 without any explanation. I hadnt been to that location in a few years. All I have stored in my unit is things that belonged to my now diseased parents probably not more than a few hundred dollars of property I should have let go of many years ago. I was out of town and returned on June 5, 2023. I drove straight from the airport to the Basswood location to speak with a manager or anyone there about the rate increase. This woman not sure of her title was very rude to me I'm 72 years old and can't remember being treated nr talked down too like I was just trying to get some information about an unexpected rate increase. I couldn't believe asking $ 501.00 for a medium sized plain storage unit more than my new truck payment. I was told by this rude woman she emailed Public Storage about my concern and a live person would call me within 24 hours. I verified the correct phone number to call me back. What I received was an email telling me I had been a loyal customer for many years and for the next six months my rate would fall back to he $ 374.00 but for now the current month would remain $ 501.00 even after I had paid in person the June $ 374.00 amount. I was given a form showing I owed $ 501.00 less my payment for $ 374.00 made on June 5, 2023. I decided to go ahead after reaching out to the BBB and private attorney for advice regading the locs being changed and someone getting into my unit and stepping all over my parents packed in boxes personal items. Now to my surprise a late charge for $ 100.00 was added to the balance. I tried by text and phone to contact Public Storage several times waiting so long I had to finally just hang up. Today after over an hour I did reach a live person who said she could not do anything other than make a request to have the late charge removed but before we finished the conversation, she actually hung up on me. I will not deal with the manager at the Basswood location again she as I said is rude also spent more time talking about getting another job in Nebraska and the sorry concrete work done at this location. When I was at the Basswood location on JUne 5,2023 I spoke with some other family who had rented a storage unit ad was told the manger is not honest and to watch my back? Yesterday I filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General and have started a complaint with the BBB. I also called the channel 8 news to investigate what is going on. My laptop as every email sent and received the past two years and not one from Public Storage in April or May 2023 regarding any rate hike as I was told. Public Storage should have also mailed me a letter sent a text message or called me. Nothing at all this was a big scam as I said no one would pay $ 501.00 for a medium size old run-down storage unit.

Desired outcome: I want my June rent adjusted to the $ 374,00 and any and all late charges removed immediately. I already paid the June payment for $ 374.00. Hire a manager that is fair and can treat a 72-year-old senior citizen with respect.
