Good luck. I just had a repair person here for my GE Profile washer (again). They had to replace the basket during the first year as it was chewing up my clothes. The washer now is making a terrible squealing noise. The motor and something else needs to be fixed to the tune of $300. They did give me a $174 warranty break on something else that was also broken (BIG DEAL!). I had to pay the $79.99 house call, too. Don't even get me started on the crappy GE Profile drier that has been depositing dirt marks on my sheets from inside the drum. I'm afraid to buy any new sheets as I am sure they will have these dirt marks on them after I dry them. There is no permanent repair for this quality defect; just keep trying to clean the area where the drum meets the frame. Great solution... The repair person indicated that the models I purchased during 2008 have had a lot of problems. NEVER AGAIN WILL I PURCHASE A GE PRODUCT. The only reason I am repairing the washer is that they have a 5 year parts warranty. Nice, a longer warranty on the parts than on the amount of time I've had the washer (not even four years).
