We at St Giles Hospice Lottery have become aware of this scam email which has been received by some people, falsely stating that the recipient has won a large sum of money and asking them to claim their prize.
Please be aware that this email has nothing whatsoever to do with the official St Giles Hospice Lottery, and the matter has been reported to the authorities.
If you have never played the St Giles Hospice Lottery, you will never have been entered into one of our prize draws. The maximum weekly prize for the St Giles Hospice Lottery is £2, 000, and all prizes are paid directly to the winner’s mailing address. No claims are required.
Only residents of England, Scotland and Wales can play and they must be aged 16 or over. If you are a player of our lottery you would have received a membership pack through the post – not via email – and this will clearly show your lottery number, together with the lottery draws you have paid to enter.
You never pay tax to either play a lottery, or on any winnings received from a lottery.
Further guidance is available by visiting the Gambling Commission website at www.gamblingcommision.gov.uk, or the St Giles Hospice website at www.stgileshospice.com/lottery.
