Built my house in 1980, and used Andersen windows, but Peachtree doors, because my contractor swore up and down that Peachtree was the greatest value in the industry. I lost glass seal in one door pane after two years, and got no warranty replacement. Then the frames rotted after 8 years. Water sipped down through the rotted wood (the damage was not visible from the outside of the frame) and rotted the sills and the living room hardwood floors next to them. And while this was happening, I got black mold all inside the wall of the basement below --without knowing it-- until the damage was enormous. I had all that restored, and rebuilt the doors by buying Peachtree replacement frame parts (this because I was already invested in new glass.) BAD MOVE! Despite vigilance and great efforts to keep the doors dry and painted regularly, they again rotted after twelve years. After that, I took the plunge and had them replaced --at very significant cost-- with Andersens. And I had reason to go with Andersens: my original Andersen windows are still as good as new, and by now they are over 30 years old! I wish I had never heard of Peachtree, or of my contractor... My sympathy to all of you above!
