The rules are different for media items. You could have read the books and then returned them. Same with CDs and DVDs, you could have copied them before returning them. It's all about the copyright laws. If you really don't like the books, you can resell them on EBay or Half.com...this is why I am careful about book purchases. If you're not sure if you will like a book or author, check it out at the library first or borrow one from a friend.
Walmart sells foods that make them money. I, too, can't have soy or wheat gluten either. I always read labels. The products you are mentioning are not likely to help you lose weight, anyway. Buy fresh produce, lean meats and eat normal sized meals. Drink lots of water. Exercise. Stay away from processed foods and most pre-packaged meals. It's your responsibility to read labels and to learn about nutrition, the stores will sell stuff as long as you keep buying it. Period.
Walmart is notorious for coaching people for not knowing that they have been doing something wrong, even though supervisors never made the duties clear to them in the first place, or in some cases, gave them wrong information entirely. They also will not give you any feedback on a daily basis to let you know if you've made a mistake or aren't working fast enough, etc. They will tell you a week or 2 later when they are giving you the verbal or written coaching, thus making sure you are unable to fix the problem before being reprimanded for it. They will ALWAYS take the supervisor's word for things over yours even if they are in the wrong. If you explain health issues to them, they will act like they understand and will say they are willing to work with you to help you keep your job, but will turn around and use those very issues against you first chance they get. I was just fired 3 days ago due to my health problems, and was told I was rehirable in 31 days. (I can have a part-time job, they say.) Yeah, that will pay the bills. In short, no matter how hard you work, no matter how few mistakes you make, it will never be fast enough, hard enough or perfect enough for Walmart.
Well, I do have to agree that Walmart's apparel department gets some pretty awful clothing. When I worked there we had a bunch of ugly, floral blouses that got marked all the way down to a dollar before finally starting to sell. Some still ended up getting donated to charity.
Unfortunately, Walmart seems to assume that only poor people shop there and that all poor people dress like "trailer trash"...and before anyone gets all pissed at me, I'm using that term because that is a sterotypical term that people recognize, not because I actually think people who live in trailer homes are trash. Thank you.
No matter how well meaning they are about being willing to watch your cart, it isn't actually their job to do so. If other customers need assistance, they have to help them and may have to take their eyes off of your cart.
I would recommend either bringing a second adult with you so you can have 2 carts at once, or separating your shopping into separate trips to begin with instead of trying to do that much shopping all at once. I can't even imagine spending 3 hours shopping, as much as I hate shopping, I couldn't do it. I'd rather buy just what I need and go a couple times a week rather than buying a month's worth of stuff in one day.
That is a health and safety issue. Bodily fluids have to be cleaned up immediately. You should have called the health department, especially after he said, "is that still there"...that is completely unacceptable. It's bad enough when the bathrooms are just plain dirty...human blood or body fluids is a public health risk issue. I would have taken a picture and immediately called the health department.
I forgot to mention one issue I had with what you posted..."for the money they make"...how much do you think Walmart employees are paid? Believe me, I worked there, it's not much.
Most Walmart's will only price match for stores in the same town. People used to come to my line with Cub Foods ads and I had to tell them no. There isn't one in Winona, only in La Crosse and Rochester, both of which are over 30 miles away. It's not false advertising, if you take time to look closely at their policy, I'm sure it says something along the lines of "local retailers".
Always check the box...period. A woman in Winona ordered something, can't remember what and got the box home and found 6 laptop computers instead. She was a good person and returned them, which says a lot for her character.
I'm sure, like the one in Winona, MN, that late at night they lock one door and you can only use one entrance. If you happen to enter the store at 9:45 PM and want to leave at 10:15, you will find that the GM door is now locked. They put signs up when they close it, but there are no signs up before that letting people know that that door is locked at 10PM. The simple solution would be to post a sign at that door letting people know that the GM door is locked at 10PM, please use the Grocery door.
Something about this isn't ringing true. They would not turn you in for buying one bottle of any medication. The computer system does track purchases of all drugs that can be used to make meth, because they have to by law. The only way they would call narcotics is if there was an unusual amount of the drug being purchased or too many purchases in a short amount of time. Your daughter is not telling you the whole story.
Walmart charges $3 for cashing checks under $1000 and $6 for checks over $1000. This should be clearly posted at the register.I have never seen any advertising by Walmart offering free check cashing. They are a business. A bank that you didn't have an account at, or a check cashing business would charge you at least $5 or a percentage. This is a ridiculous complaint.
Never give your credit card number to anyone who is claiming you won something. I seriously doubt this person was affiliated with Walmart in any way. It's a popular scam, usually done through email or by phone.
Are you still working part-time at Walmart and the other job is a second job? That's the only way this makes sense. As for dentist bills, are you sure you are actually covered? Dental is separate and their is a one year waiting period for major dental coverage. Up until you've had the insurance for a year, it only covers routine exams and preventative. More info is needed on this.
oops, there, not their...sleepy today.
This is a common internet scam. NEVER ever give credit card or bank account info to someone that you don't know, unless you have initiated the contact yourself and it's a known, trusted company. Think about it...why would you have money in Nigeria?
Never pay money up front to a company you have never heard of. Do your research BEFORE handing over your money. They have probably gone out of business after bilking who knows how many people out of their hard earned money. The chances of them being found and brought to justice is minimal.
I used to work for McDonalds. If the state law doesn't require something, they figure they don't have to go above and beyond to do it. It's sad, but true. Also, they are supposed to make you wash your hands every half hour, a timer even goes off, but if it's busy, you aren't allowed to stop and wash your hands. So yeah, they should require gloves like everyone else, but unless the health laws change in Minnesota, they won't do it.
Note: The grill person DOES have to wear gloves when handling raw meat and change them before touching anything else.
They have to ID anyone who looks under 40...take it as a compliment and move on.
They get paid enough for it? I find that unlikely. I've worked at McDonalds...even as an assistant manager I didn't get paid anywhere near what I was worth. But, yes, they should be more careful and also, you should always check your order before leaving.
Honestly? How are they supposed to know it is your husband's card? What if some woman had stolen his card, gone into the store, told them it was her husband's card and they let her use it? You'd be extremely angry about that. If it's a joint checking account, you should have your own card, with your name and signature on it. Go to the bank and order one if you don't have one. Simple.
