I am currently dealing with this so-called "company". First off, when I tried to contact them about on invoice that I had received, they told me that one of my staff members "agreed" to the listing and that they had a recording of that conversation. When I asked to listen to the recording myself, they gave me a "regional" number to call, (which was where they apparently kept these "recordings"). Of course, I called this number and got no answer OR message, the phone just rang and rang.Lately, I have been getting "collections" notices from them. These notices don't come from an actual collections agency, they come from their 'internal' collections "department". These notices threaten legal action and use persuasive language, but it's ALL A SCAM! Some of the language in these notes is almost laughable. They pretty much say "I know your company screwed up when you ordered your listing, but you still have to pay us". They have even gone as far as saying that they will "reduce" the invoice amount if I agree to pay it right away! Additionally, when I (the manager) am contacted, they use very 'careful' language with me; but when another staff member answers the phone, they get litigious and threatening.

I have recently contacted the Canadian Competition Bureau, who told me that these guys have been doing this for years and that legally, they didn't have a leg to stand on. I have also filed a complaint against them.

If you get an invoice from this or any other similar company, DO NOT PAY THEM, EVER! This is all a scam, and their practice of invoicing you and not letting you cancel such an order is against the Canadian Competition Act.

As a business manager, I deal with reputable listings companies (like Yellow Pages) all the time. We have phone meetings, we see proofs of the proposed listings (to make sure info is correct), we know our company reps by name and we sign CONTRACTS in FACE-TO-FACE meetings.

NORTH AMERICAN DIRECTORY ASSISTANCE IS A SCAM COMPANY. THEY HAVE HAD COMPLAINTS FILED AGAINST THEM WITH THE CANADIAN COMPETITIONS BUREAU. DO NOT PAY ANY INVOICE THEY SEND YOU, AND DO NOT FALL FOR ANY "THREATS". ALL OF IT IS FAKE. ANYONE CAN LEASE OFFICE SPACE, A P.O BOX, OR BUILD A WEBSITE FOR PENNIES A DAY. THIS DOES NOT GIVE THEM THE RIGHT TO VIOLATE THE CANADIAN COMPETITION ACT.
