That would be because Walgreens doesn't have a very good idea of how to hire/promote appropriate people for management. If you have a degree then you are automatically qualified. If you don't then you have to struggle to show your worthiness. Outside hires find it much easier to get into management than do inside hires. Qualified people who already work for walgreens find there to be many hoops to jump through to "prove" yourself. They blindly hire strangers to go straight into management and make an imposition to be promoted to management from within. During the hiring process many decisions are made by a computer--the applicant takes a battery of tests to qualify. Then they sit with a store manager or a DM and get an interview. As long as they are available to work anytime at all then they are hired. Although, just note, since 2009 walgreens has not been hiring many managers at all due to a massive slow down in store growth and a massive program to reduce management in the stores in favor of non-management supervisors. These new non-management team leaders may or may not be qualified at all for the job. Most of the team leaders were folks whose job was eliminated (SIMS coordinator-an inventory clerk of sorts) in 2009 and they were offered an automatic "promotion" to the store team lead. And their job is essentially to do every thing the assistant managers did, but without the pay or recognition. Walgreens is trying to broaden their focus on the whole healthcare market right now and trying to cut expenses. It may just be so the new and current CEO, Greg Wasson can make a name for himself. All the changes are making morale very low and no improvements are foreseeable in the near future. The company has several more plans to implement that are sure to further reduce morale and make things slower and less customer oriented in the stores, even if the goal is to become more consumer centric. I wouldn't expect any improvements soon if I were you. The old dependable Walgreens is gone for now.
You're an idiot. Use the card for purchases a store somewhere. It says on their rack that they cannot refund cards. If you want a refund call the company that issues the card.
