It's more likely that the engine was damaged while the coolant was low and not protecting it. also, when the coolant gets older, it doesn't hold up its properties and won't protect the engine from overheating, or freezing, this is also probably what caused the radiator crack, and in turn allowed the engine to be damaged by overheating. please do not blame the person who tries to help you for your ignorance. Talk to a mechanic and you will be told the same exact thing that I am saying right now.
It's actually a good thing that sears shows all of the add-ons. It's actually a way to change items to fit your needs. At discount tire and Costco, they automatically add things in, and you are still paying for them even though it says that it is free. The reason Sears does this is because there are many options to suit many vehicle types. There is a chrome valve stem option, and a regular rubber valve stem, also there are long and short valve stems, and high pressure stems for those who drive trucks. We can package everything together so that it looks like how costco sells them, because when customers see that there are OPTIONS they freak out and walk out because we are charging for too many things. I didn't think that it was a bad thing to give someone options, and we just put the ones that are tailored to each customer in so that you as a customer don't have to decide between the 20 or so valve stems options. Here's a hint: when you are tire shopping, use the exact same tire and make sure you are looking at tires with the exact same speed ratings. Also, look at the total price with EVERYTHING (road hazard, balancing, installation, valve stems, etc) Sears can and does beat Costco on several tires, and what they don't, they do price match. There are some tires that are branded differently, but are in essence the same exact tire, Sears will price match for a comparable tire also, so that the customer is always taken care of. Please if you have a problem with the service charges, do some homework, or ask to be shown around the industry. I do this for my customers and I have had 97% customer satisfaction feedback and most of my customers come back to me because I educate them about their purchases and exactly what the difference is when they buy from sears. I have noticed that a lot of people want a price of just the tire not realizing that tires at one place will be cheaper while installation is more expensive, and vice versa. And will not listen to me when I tell them that they need to look at the "whole" picture with installation and valve stems and road hazard.
If the tires were below 2/32 of an inch they are illegal and Sears can not install tires if the remaining tires are going to remain illegal. It is not a ploy to get you to buy more tires, it is a lawsuit waiting to happen if something does happen and they let you leave with tires that are below the legal tread. I work for sears, and by the wording that you saw sears said that they are unsafe I can only come to this conclusion. I will be starting a blog about issues and information about the automotive industry. I will update when I have it up and running.
I apologize for sears, wheel locks are tricky things sometimes. There is an option for Sears to break off the wheel locks and replace them with regular studs, but they shouldn't have done the alignment before the tires.
I agree with the other person posting a comment. There is no way to tell if there is an extensive amount of sludge build up by just removing the drain plug and oil filter. They can check and see if your coolant is holding it's properties, and make sure your transmission fluid isn't contaminated, but you cannot expect them to take apart your engine to determine that there is sludge buildup. And even if there is sludge build up it is most likely your fault for not maintaining your vehicle properly.
Haha, I love it when people try this one! (Not to be insensitive or anything). I work for a Sears Auto Center in a high end area. We have had several people lately try to blame our Sears for damage to wheels. It has gotten ridiculous trying to even work because now we have to document absolutely every little blemish on the wheel and vehicle so that sears does not have to pay for wheels that they did not damage. I have even taken pictures of a couple of wheels for documentation because I got tired of noting the 18 different blemishes on the surface of wheels, (and still had a customer try and scam sears, maybe it was just sheer lack of looking at their wheels before they got sparkly new tires put on.) Either way, please be decent human beings and stop blaming sears for CURB RASH on your wheels.
Sorry, this actually was not all directed at the author of this complaint, I just wish that people would stop scamming Sears. I absolutely love my job, but when I have actually sat back and watched the technicians do the job correctly, and then have the customer come back demanding money for something that we didn't damage, unfortunately that puts me on defense for the rest of my customers who actually do have a problem
It is Sears policy to return the money in the form that it was paid, with the exception of checks. That's odd that they only gave you cash because when I worked there they did not give cash back for anything unless you originally paid in cash.
And the poster above me, Check your percentage rate that may be why your balance is not going down. Also, look at the statements. They do not have a set date that the payments are due. Months have a different number of days and the billing cycle just goes by a certain number of days, so you may have a few months where the due date is a few days earlier than usual. If you call them AS SOON as you are late, you may be able to work something out with them. They have programs to drop the interest rate for a certain amount of time in exchange for closing the account in the meanwhile. BUT they will only negotiate with you if you are late. That's the catch. They bumped my interest rate to 29.99% and I had a $3, 000 balance. There was NO way I was going to be able to pay that off. I called them right after I was late and they dropped my interest to 0% for one year and took off my late charges. They do have different programs at different times, but the trick is to get to where you are late, or they won't work with you.
