I will NEVER purchase another GE product again !
I purchased a brand new electric GE Dryer from Home Depot, January 12, 2011. Today is March 20, 2015 and dryer quit running. It worked for one load of clothes, then it wouldn't work for the second load of clothes. When I pressed the 'start button' all it did was hum. I got online and searched troubleshooting GE Dryers and one of the options said that sometimes the drum sticks, so give the drum a turn manually. Which I did, but it didn't work, the button still only hummed when I pressed it to start it. I called a service repair to come out and fix my dryer and he tells me that it needs a NEW MOTOR, and said that motors run about one hundred dollars, so he looked up the GE replacement motor and he was shocked, because the motor alone will cost me $340.00.. add labor and it's almost the price I paid for the damned dryer! The repairman said that GE puts low quality motors in their appliances that only last about 3 to 4 years, so that way when you need to replace the motor, you'll buy the $340.00 motor, so now they make almost $1, 000.00 from you. My dryer is 4 years and 2 months old. It's called GREED. I'm disabled and live off disability which barely covers my rent and bills. I had to save up to buy this dryer! What happened to quality appliances and standing by the product you make? Those things don't apply anymore, it's all about GREED. GE now stands for GrEedy Appliances. Now I have to save for another dryer, and it won't be a GE dryer, and I will never buy ANYTHING with the GE name on it. Paula Copeland
