Although my complaint may not seem as bad as the preceeding complaints, I feel after reading these prior reviews that I must express my experience with this company as well.
During January of 2014, I went to a local private Carolina Carport dealer. My very first experience was that of poor customer service, nonchalant, "it is what it is" personality. I did place the order with this dealer and waited, as instructed, for a call for installation. It should be noted that I was told at the initial order that they were out of the color to put a door on the end of this building and that I would have to give them a few weeks to get that color and order the door separately. I was quoted a "$300.00" price at that time for the door and installation. When the call did not come within the time frame promised, I called the company number that was given to me by the dealer. (The dealer had been very specific at the time of the order and down payment of 10% that it was "out of my hands" after the order was placed.) When the call was answered, I explained my order and was basically told "oh yeah", as if they had forgotten to call me. They then told me that someone would be returning my call. I waited a few more days and did get the call wanting to schedule installation.
On the day of installation, I must say, the guys installing were expeditious, polite and appeared to install a quality building. When completely installed, I inquired again about the door. The installers told me again that they were out of the material in the color that I needed and that I would have to call them back at a later date. He also confirmed the $300.00 price tag.
I waited over 9 months and called the company again in November of 2014. I spoke with "Haley". She stated that she would handle my order and call me back. She also confirmed the $300.00 price tag. I waited for over a week for Haley's return call and never got it. I called the company back and was able to get Haley on the phone. She stated that she had my order on her desk on the "to do list" and would call me back. I waited another week and got no return call. On November 18, 2014, I called again and when I asked for Haley, I was told that she was with another customer and would call me back. NO CALL AGAIN!
On December 30, 2014 I called back AGAIN...and AGAIN, asked for Haley. The lady I was speaking with stammered, not really commenting whether Haley was available or not and I then reiterated this entire sequence of events. After my book full of events were dispelled on this lady, she stated, "well sir, Haley doesn't even handle orders such as this...you need to be speaking with our ordering department". OK, WELL CAN I SPEAK WITH THEM! I was then transferred to Javier. Well, fun, fun, fun. I repeated this whole library of books of events to Javier. His immediate response was "sir, we don't ever run out of colors...you must have been told wrong". I replied, "well, let's get this order going since you obviously have the color of the door that I need". He hammered around in the background for a while saying that he was still trying to look me up. After a while he said he found the order and again, asked what size building I had. I figured he should know that since he had just confirmed that he'd found my original order but told him anyway. His response was then that one door for this building was over $700.00. I argued this as I'd been told numerous times that the price was $300.00. He went into a whole litany of reasons why the one door was over $700.00 for a building that cost just over $1000.00 total. After all of this, I decided at that moment that enough is enough. All I can say is WOW!
To sum this up, it will be a cold day in Hadez before I EVER call this company for anything again. The customer service from the private dealer to the reps over the phone is outrageously out of step (to say it lightly) and not at all practicing kindness, satisfaction or "please come back to see us" mentality. I've lived over 49 years of my life practicing the principle of "treat people the way you want to be treated...especially those who help pay your bills". I expect nothing for free and always expect to pay for service rendered. A business is built on reputation of good service, honesty and ethical treatment of others. I'm not sure how this company has grown to it's current size, other than maybe they started with the right principle and lost their way at some point. To Carolina Carports, I say this, "keep up the good work and see just how long you stay in business".
