We too like all of you were scammed! We purchased at the Grand Mayan for the Mayan Palace in 2008 for Biannual vacation time. We were told the Mayan Palace would be completed and available to booking by the time we could use our week in 2009. Well the Mayan Palace was never built and it is now 2013! The Grand Mayan was booked. So, I called back exactly 6 months prior to wanting to stay at the Grand Mayan and representative told me it is unlikely for us to stay at this resort because they has so few rooms available for US owners. We spend $9000 for preconstruction for a resort that will mostly likely never be built. My husband and I have asked around to find out what the public knows about the Mayan Palace and the possibility of construction and we always get the same answer...they are never going to build! We were adamant about not staying anywhere else in Mexico except the Cabo area and we were told that is not a problem, your resort will be built and you will have the availability to stay for your bi-annual weeks. What a LIE! Now they want me to pay a renovation fee of $465.25 to renovate a resort that is not tangible! HOW AN THESE PEOPLE SLEEP AT NIGHT! They say the renovation fee is for all the resorts that we have access to, and my response... but we only stay in Cabo! And so far, we have yet to stay at our resort in Cabo...
