I Received a call from [protected] (one of many used by these people) on April 14th 2008. Not the first time they've called. I picked up but remained silent and after a three second delay a man said hello and I replied, He then said "Wrong number" and hung up. I have gotten calls before from this " Pennsylvania Narcotic Officers Association " It is a telemarketing SCAM ! They usually call businesses. All they need do is give 2% of what they take in to any charity and that keeps them legal. Wether they actually use any of the money for real law enforcement training is unknown but I doubt it. They are registered as a charity in Pennsylvania but that doesnt mean they are legit. They're mailing address is: 3117 BLYTHEBURN RD. MOUNTAINTOP, PA 18707 and the local phone number is: [protected] The PNOA President Reginald Roberts works for the Montgomery County District Attorney Ms. Risa Vetri Ferman CALL HER and tell her how her employee's charity is harassing you. Here's a link to the Pennsylvania State Charity disclosure page on these clowns http://web.dos.state.pa.us/cgi-bin/Charities/ ... 7715&orgtype=CO THEY TOOK IN MORE THAN A QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS and spent 80% of it on Fundraising and Adminstrative costs! That means what they pocketed! I tried with earnest to find an actual police group of any kind that benefited from these people and could not find a one! None had ever even heard of these people. They do have a nice slick website but remember Police don't need charity. They dont need your donations to do their job. They get paid thru YOUR tax dollars! They get extra funding thru confiscated drug property sales. And Police are PROHIBITED by law for asking for donations! These guys calling are NOT cops! They are slick. If you listen real careful they say they are "representing" some an "association" If you want to donate to a REAL police benefit organization give to one that is KNOWN and verifiable like the Fraternal Order of Police or The Philadelphia Hero Scholarship Fund not these scammers.

This may be too late to help this guy as this was posted a year and a half ago but I suggest suing Ebay. They damaged his business. he had 100 percent feedback rating which clearly shows they were in good standing with their customers. eBay is very quick to cut off sellers without warning. and what happened to this guy happens everyday to many, many others. eBay flagrantly does whatever it feels like, they have rules against the stupidest of things. I use to have many items for sale that had very similar descriptions. I used the same description for all and it in was a single word used to describe how I examined each item for flaws. This upset a buyer who used that same word in his alerts for items totally unrelated and he wrote me demanding I stop using that word. Ummm, ever hear of the first amendment? Who is he to demand, that I stop using a word that is not profane and does apply to what I was selling even if it wasnt an item he was interested in. Ebay suspended me anyhow. I took them to court in MY hometown. Yes, I know they claim that any disputes must be settled in their area of California. BULL! You can sue anybody anywhere you like. If you live in New York and eBay damaged your business you CAN sue them in New York and they will need to pay an attorney licensed in New York to come to court and defend them. That costs them even more as they must pay another attorney not their own. They can of course get to court and rattle their sabre and say "see our user agreement says all case must be settled in California" Which a judge may or may not agree with, usually the latter. Judges dont like attorneys telling them have no jurisdiction. My defense to their claim was that MY business was in New York and this is where I was damaged. The judge agreed and I went on to win my case. ( In David vs. Goliath, David usually always wins! ) If enough people make eBay pay then it will become too costly for eBay to continue to screw sellers without justification. Put the pressure on. Sue the bast... !
I got the same exact message. eBay abuse. Whats that? You get a form letter telling you to read the user agreement. That tells you nothing. Safety and Integrity? I've NEVER had any problem with any buyers. They need to explain themselves and they won't. What was worse is that they changed the reason for my suspension. First it was due to Paypal "issues", yeah the issue was that PayPal was demanding my Social Secuirty number and my bank account info! For What? They claim to verify my identity. What for? I had been selling for awhile with zero problems. No complaints what-so-ever. No all of a sudden they want personal info. I dont think so. And any issue I have with PayPal should have nothing to do with eBay, well yes I guess it does as eBay OWNS PayPal! I took them to court and won. make them pay for their mistakes, they have billions, make them spread the joy. If enough people make them pay then maybe, just maybe they will change their ways. Either that or maybe someone else will start a similar auction site.
As much as it pains me to say this, the fact you lost 8000 pounds isnt ebay's fault. eBay sends messages all the time about this scam. A red flag should have gone up when you got an e mail after you hadnt provided the seller with your email address. A second red flag should have gone up when the email said the sale was thru ebay safe harbor. Safe harbor has nothing to do with making transactions. eBay suggests when getting these 'second chance" offers ALWAYS verify that the second chance off is shown in your my ebay page under items not won AND look for an ebay message that starts with your name. You didnt do this and that is why your out 8000 pounds. This problem is so big that eBay needs to do something about it. They have a responsibility to do something about it. messages about the scams arent enough. They need to have each and every buyer acknowledge that they understand second chance offers can ONLY be made on the MY eBay page. and it should be very obvious on the My eBay page, not hidden in the "items not Won" page. Have a Second Chance category with an alert.
There's a pattern here. Ebay is going after people that have excellent feedback and appear to have no real issues that warrant investigation. They are demanding personal information that is NOT their business. I'm not sure of their motive. Perhaps they are working on marketing their credit card or getting into the telemarketing data sales game. ( companies sell you personal info to other companies looking to sell you something. It's a multi billion dollar business! ) It could be something else but whatever it is Ebay and PayPal ( owned by ebay ) is getting a little too personal. They asked me for my social security number and bank account numbers to "verify my identity" GO POUND SAND! If enough people REFUSE TO GIVE EBAY/PAYPAL THEIR PERSONAL INFO it will hurt them in sales. If you have been damaged by ebay suspending your account, go after them in small claims court in YOUR jurisdiction not theirs. make them pay, make them work for their defense.
SUE EM BILL ! It's the only thing that will get their attention.
Dispute your credit card charge. You didnt receive the services you paid for. make them respond or they lose the dispute. if they retaliate by suspending you, sue them in court in your jurisdiction. make them hire a lawyer in your area to defend them, it will cost them tons!
The State of New York AG's office went after another company for doing exactly the same thing a few years ago. There was a HUGE settlement in which everyone listed as a victim was given a portion.
Yes I can understand what your saying, your kids tell you they want something and you expect to go out and get it and you feel that you should pay what YOU want to pay not what the sellers wants to receive for it. Thats a great Idea! We should all do that. When I go to the gas station today I'm going to tell the guy i want to pay fifty cents a gallon for gas. That way i'lll save lots of money! Yea, Your a genius.
