I've been dealing with the same problem with Careington. We had a policy with them for one year and I have no complaints about their coverage but you can't stop them from charging you for a renewal. They auto charged me another $129.00 in 11/12 and I called to have the charge cancelled as soon as I saw the charge on my Visa statement. I was told that I could received a prorated refund. That was not acceptable to me because I cancelled immediately after seeing the charge and never used the program since the renewal. The person I spoke to at Careington told me that I could receive a full refund if I sent an email to member@careington.com with my policy # requesting a full refund. During a joint call with Careington and Visa they told us that only a partial refund was available. They would not provide a reference number or even a direct # to call to Visa or me. "Wendy" said that anyone who answered the phone there could help us.
I received an email reply from them but to read it I have to open an account with "Your Encrypted Message eXchange Activation Information".
The person handling this contested charge at my Chase Visa is annoyed too. This company is a rip off!
One more comment. Per Careington in the above comment: "We do send our members renewal notices 30 days in advance of the automatic renewal of your membership, " We never received that notice.
