Ross is terrible. I currently am an FES at a new store that just opened. All I can say is HOOOLLYY SHIIITTT! What a misguided crock of ###. Seriously, if you happen to enjoy working under consantly stressful conditions (stressful in the sense that they will have you working the jobs of 3 positions simultaneously in order to save payroll, stressful in the sense that if you don't complete all assignments you WILL be written up and have your job continually threatened, stressful in the sense that schedule changes occur at last minute with no warning or phone call, stressful in the sense that entitled customers will literally curse at you for not having the item in that they want, stressful in the sense that the pecking order is ridiculous they are Taylorized to the core, and finally, the most stressful part is being on a checkstand or any timed position (( YES ROSS TIMES YOU AT WORK)) and their biggest fundamental flaw is the check stands, if a customer is digging for change after you press total, you're getting marked down and you can actually be fired due to SLOW ### customers taking their time) The only ONLY nice thing about working for Ross is you can push them around. Because they deny workers right's to bargain wages and prohibit Unions (which is how they keep this slave system going) you can call in sick as much as you like, you can miss shifts and just claim you mis-read the schedule, just remember this, ROSS will do ANYTHING to not fire you, because then they have to pay unemployment. So they will allow you to miss as much time as you want and will allow it everytime, the only way you can lose this job is if you quit. So, when you are tired of it, and want them to fire you, just continually [censored]tier and [censored]tier work and just ignore management, they will get so angry they will cut your hours to nothing, just continue working, soon the firing will happen and you will have unemployment until you can find a REAL job.
Ross is disgusting, knowing that the total annual overhead for the ENTIRE corporation is just under 500 million, and finding out that they rake in over 6 BILLION annually, toss their CEO and corporate ### hats bonuses of up to 15.5 MILLION dollars a year, yet they pay American workers less money than migrant field workers make under the table. It's ### and hopefully places like this will not exist when my children enter the workforce.
Hello, you are one of the ### hat customers that I despise so much. Ignorant, self centered, self absorbed, content only with complaining. I work at a Ross, just in case you are unawares, they understaff us constantly. Most likely the "workers" casually walking around were probably not assigned check stands, and in that case, they CAN'T check. Most likely you were a vibrant ### and the managers simply told you they did not have any more checkers, at least that's what I see on a day to day basis. The fact that you would shop at a Ross just shows how inconsistent your moral fiber is. You DO REALIZE that much of their product comes from overseas sweatshops and is marked up about 1000%, so when you "think" you're saving all this money and getting a good deal, it's most likely because it was made by children in India, is broken, or is a knock off... Even the Polo stuff that Ross Carries, is a KNOCK OFF, it's not even real. Listen lady, you seem just like everyone else, totally self absorbed and ###, but why don't you pull your head out for just a moment and look at the bigger picture... Sub optimal work environments like Ross that continually undermine not only our job markets, but workers rights, and also human right's as a bigger picture should be illegal and the people that support and allow them to continue operating by purchasing their disgusting products should be prosecuted for accomplice to a criminal system. You shop at Ross. That is disgusting to the core. That business buys it's products from sweatshops and the fact that you are too ignorant to pay attention to well known facts make me think you deserved to be ripped off. THat's what you get for taking your money to the slave machine in the first place. Ross is one of the most disgusting and IMO illegal under the US constitution, corporations in the world. I can tell you from personal experience that they way you were treated is no different from how they treat their own employees, when I first worked at Ross once upon a time, I was denied my first month of pay, and never saw it, even hired a lawyer and got nowhere with it, which is why I quit. Any corporation that makes it a part of their financial plan to occasionally screw over employees just to get back a small percent of payroll is an EVIL COMPANY and should not be supported. Don't shop at Ross, do your local community, and the country at large a HUGE favor and hit up your local Salvation Army / Good Will, these days they are cheaper, have nicer clothing (lots of it is just overstock, not even used b4) and you won't be helping places like Ross secure their grip in our culture, places like Ross and Dillards etc need to be weeded out and removed from our society. Good riddance.
