My daughter who is a patient/resident in a home for her epilepsy attacks Huis Sonop, Stikland Hospital, Bellville and who receives a SASSA pension every month and is given R160.00 voucher to buy groceries and toiletries per month.

She has been shopping at the Pick and Pay, Tygervalley store for the past 5 years and there has never been a problem until 12 and 19 February,2022 where she has been told that there are no funds and must come back in 48 hours.

The lady at the till swiped the voucher/card a number of times and repeated that there were no funds and she must come back after 48 hours.

This problem was brought to the attention of the manager of Huis Sonop on February 14 and she told my daughter that they would investigate the matter which was done at the bank.

The bank gave the manager a statement to confirm that the money was in the bank and available.

The manager of the home gave this statement to my daughter and told her that she should show it to the till lady or the manager if there are any problems.

On February 19 we took my daughter shopping at Pick and Pay and she did her shopping and when she had finished she went to the till and gave her voucher/card for payment and was immediately told that there were no funds

My wife who was very upset at this stage demanded to see the stores manager a Mr Faldie.

My wife explained to him what had happened on the the 12th and had just happened now again.

He, Mr Faldie told my wife that he would email head office and they would have to investigate the matter.

He made copies off the bank statement, and the till slips which showed a balance of R7.00

He took down our telephone numbers etc and informed my wife that he would get back to us asap.

It seems very strange that all the other residents of Huis Sonop who do their shopping at Pick and Pay Family Store in Brackenfell have no problems with their vouchers/cards.

Hopefully with the help of Hellopeter this will be sorted out soon as I feel that if the problem lies with Pick and Pay my daughter should be compensated for the embarrassment she has suffered.
