Dear Sir,
Claim For Engine Damage Due to Overheat on Honda Accord 2.0 IVTEC Engine – JLF 20
On 29th October 2022, I went to Peringgit Sri Auto Services at No 4, Jalan Kinrara 2 to carry-out inspection on some oil leak since I had replaced some engine gasket parts a few weeks earlier and when I brought the car into the service centre, it was in good running condition.
I received the inspection report on some new leaks, and it was highlighted that the hose from the radiator to the water reservoir tank was completely broken and need to be replaced.
Honda mentioned that the car can still be driven until the hose is rectified and there was a plan to glue the hose the following week when I was due to bring the car in for some repair work.
I would like to complain on the following matter:
1) It is unlikely for the hose from the radiator to the water reservoir tank to be completely broken. I strongly suspect that the technician had hit on the hose during inspection of the car and broke it.
2) Honda has carelessly advised that the car can still be driven but in actual it should not be allowed to be driven out of the service centre due to unpredictable traffic conditions on the road.
On the day of the incident, I drove the car out of the service centre late evening close to 5 p. m and the car stalled around 9 km away (near Kelana Jaya) by the road side and during that period of time it was a Saturday weekend and the service centre was already closed. I called and notified the service advisor (Kenny) who released my car on the incident day and he said to get the car towed back to Honda Peringgit Sri Auto Services on Monday (31/10/22). After carrying-out inspection on Monday, I received the bad news from the Service Advisor (Kenny) that the engine was completely damaged and the cheapest option was to replace with a 2nd hand engine. I had also informed the Service Manager on Monday (31/10/2022) that I will be pursuing soon with a claim.
The reason I continue using Honda Accord since 2008 and later changed to the 2015 model is the quality of the car and the quality of service that was rendered throughout the years. I was always proud to tell everyone on the quality of work and professional advice given by Honda because my Honda car was maintained very well by the Honda Service Centre throughout the years.
1) The reason, I frequent to the Honda service centre even after the warranty is over is to get the best professional advice to ensure the car is maintained in mint condition.
2) The reason, I carry-out my repairs at Honda, is to ensure the car remains like new with original parts and good workmanship.
3) I always expect Honda to maintain a professional outlook to continue providing a good customer satisfaction experience. Arising from my recommendation on Honda, my two brothers currently drive a Honda Accord (JSJ 7755), CRV (VFQ 5259), my sister in-law drives a Jazz (VBU 1144) and my late father drove a Honda Civic (JEP 6644) and all this cars are bought brand new from Honda in my family. This is how we have showed our support to Honda over the years.
Today, because of this unfortunate incident, I am seeking that all the repair damages to make good the car in running condition again to be borne by Honda Service Centre. The current estimated claim amount is around RM 9,500 or whichever is higher based on the final invoice and an additional RM 500 for the process to engage a agent to register the engine in the registration card.
This incident will impact me financially because the 2nd hand replacement engine will devalue my car and the 2nd hand engine will expose me to future reliability issues and unwarranted repairs and this has created a stress on my mind.
I look forward for my claim to be reimbursed by Honda Management and Service Centre management. I seek them to be professional and accountable to absorb all the cost related to the repair and engine re-registration works based on the final repair bill which had arisen due to the wrong action and instruction given.
Thank-you.
Yours Sincerely,
P. Hariyharan
