I sent a high end dressage saddle to Pelham Saddlery on consignment. It was in brand new condition (never even girthed up) and worked with Pelham to set the selling price. After approximately six months and no sale, I contacted Pelham to have them return my saddle and provided a credit card number to cover the shipping charges. A few days later I received a box measuring 8 inches by 8 inches by, if I remember correctly, 24 inches. (The 8 by 8 inches measurements are accurate.) Imagine my surprise when I found my $4000 dressage saddle ROLLED UP and STUFFED into this box!!! I shipped my saddle in an oversize saddle box stuffed with packing material to keep it safe. No matter. Pelham Saddlery saw fit to simply ROLL my saddle to fit in an oversize tube box. The stitching was pulled on the panels but, fortunately, did not snap (a testament to the quality of the saddle). I promptly called Pelham Saddlery and they were nonchalant about the packing. They did not offer to pay for a professional to inspect the saddle for damage (and repair, if necessary). I believe the tree is still in good shape based upon my examination, but I really should take it in somewhere (unfortunately, I do not live close to a saddler). NEVER AGAIN WILL I DO BUSINESS WITH PELHAM SADDLERY.

    I neglected to mention that my charge card was charged over $900 for a saddle that I never purchased. This error occurred after I requested my saddle be returned. The charge was not for my saddle (it was listed for much more). It took MULTIPLE telephone calls to have this charge removed. Be very careful if you must deal with Pelham Saddlery.

    I have dealt with Pelham Saddlery on numerous accounts and have had great luck every time. I am not sure what happened in your case. That seems very odd. I have met many of the great employees that work there and they are all very horse/tack knowledgeable. They have sold 4 of my saddles very quickly for me and so I hate to see someone out here bashing them like this. Again, I don't know what happened with your case.

    EPFarm, you are fortunate. However, everything happened just as described--I have no reason to waste my time posting fictitious tales. If the truth is to be considered "bashing" so be it.

    We attempted to purchase a consigned saddle from Pelham Saddlery. I asked them to contact the seller with an offer. The refused to contact the seller and indicated that they would not sell the saddle for less than 10%off of their already inflated selling price. I again asked them to contact the seller and they refused. The woman I dealt with was very rude. I would not recommend visiting this store

    I cannot believe how unprofessional these people are! I tried 2 dressage saddles on consignment. I had to pay their saddle fitter to bring the saddles down. I picked 2 saddles, one of which I was definitely planning on buying, Due to a scheduling change, my trainer had to postpone coming to evaluate the saddle, and I requested an extra 3 days to evaluate it. I asked her to ask the seller if I could keep it for 3 days since there was a 50 % chance that I would buy one of the saddles. The woman hung up on me and charged my credit card for both saddles. I can't believe that she would refuse to negotiate and would actually hang up me. I feel sorry for the owners of these saddles, since I was totally willing to buy one of these saddles!
