I clicked on an advertisement page frm my home page and clicked on free trial you pay shipping 5.95. No where did it say that the free trial you were being sent was really $89.95 if you dod not cancel with in 30 days. Thankfully my husband told me to check the invoice to see if it said anything and sure enough you will be charged. When I called to cancel it certainly did not phase the person that I was cancelling becasue it was a scam. They informed me that I would have to pay for the shipping back to them. I should have known better but glad that I was able to cancel before a whopping bill hit me ontop of it. I would hate to have missed that little bit of info.Too bad it did not mention it before the shipping was paid.

I just received my order. I don't see any comments on the charges on my credit card. I tried to follow the steps to order with a different e-mail. The clue to step back when ordering on line is when they ask you to put your credit card first and in this case, disclosing the terms after. It just said free trial. My daughter warned me many times about free stuff on line. Thank you to all the people that posted their comments on this stinky issue.

I agree 100% it is a scam and the poduct does not work as advertised. The consumer in the US needs to be protected against this type of scam.

Here is the letter which I am sending them with their returned product. May it be helpful to others who also have been scammed.

"Enclosed is the “free” trial product that I recently received. I spoke with (name omitted) at OOKISA and informed her I am returning your product which was never opened or tried/used.

I am deeply disturbed by OOKISA’s fraudulent and deceptive manner through which I ordered these.

According to your email verifying this return, you state,

“In order to receive your refund and avoid future shipments or charges, we must receive your package within 30 days of the RMA initiation date [protected]), unless you have been instructed otherwise by the customer service team. If the return is not received with in this period, you may no longer be entitled to a refund per our return policy.”

I am hereby returning these 3 items (shampoo, conditioner and night-time product) in the same box in which they arrived, by Certified mail as a record that these were indeed returned within the specified time frame. Let it also be known that your letter which accompanied the product stated that the Trial ends 10-14-2009.

Please know that I am notifying my bank to immediately cease any further transaction from OOKISA and I want to make it clear that I do not want any more product sent to me. Furthermore, I am requesting that you remove me from any and all future advertising promotions whether it be by email or postal service.

Lastly, I am reporting you to the Better Business Bureau, the California Attorney General's office, and the Complaint’s Board on the Internet.

Regards,

It is a SCAM. You can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online. They will shut them down eventually.

I agree with wants been said. I tried a free trail that said I have 15 days to try the product. I didn't receive the product until the 15 day and on the 16 day I was charge with more money and for an item that I didn't even request. Now my thing is how can you advertize a product for a free 15 day trail while it is still in the mail and you haven't received it yet. I aggured this to the person and I wanted to know, how can I use something for 15 days while it is in the mail. The advertizement says 15 day after you have received the product, but they assumed that I can in there store and picked up the product. I have learned my lesson that when I see FREE it's just a joke. I had to copy and send back to them there own terms and agreement to show them that this is what you said. Once I received the product I had 15 day to say whether or not I wanted to keep it. They still didn't understand there own agreement. Good luck to all that runs after anything that says FREE TRAIL (set up for your Bank Account). If it's FREE then you want need my Credit Card.

REMEMBER, Consumers, that scam companies have the same ability as YOU to search the internet. It makes complete sense that dishonest people would also visit their "complaint" forums and post just oh-so-wonderful news about themselves, as well as posting even mediocre news about themselves, the appearance of honesty, to help turn the scales in their favor. The recent Acai Berry stuff and it's complement, the intestinal power flush stuff, have well proven that. BUYER BEWARE has to be everyone's motto. I thought the Ookisa stuff sounded great. Then I started my research and am ending here. DON'T DO THIS STUFF. It ain't right. Try the few drops of Tea Tree Oil into your existing shampoo, someone recommended. Now THAT stuff has multiple, multiple, wonderful uses. (The taste of the Tea Tree Oil toothpaste, however, sent me into fits, but who am I? Mom loved it.)

I had no hair loss till I tried Ookisa shampoo and Conditioner that claimed to improve hair texture, (it was very thick but not smooth) and make hair grow faster( my husband wanted my hair longer it was halfway between my shoulder blades and waist).the 1st time I used it, it seemed like there was more hair in shower drain than usual . I called they said that was normal. When it dried it was baby fine and fly away. I used it 2 more times than stopped as it was getting worse. that was 5-6 months ago, it never stopped, my hair is snapping off, it looks like I cut it, they said it wasn't their problem, and wouldn't refund my money(they finally refunded my money after months)...My hairs were visibly finer after I used this. I've always had thick strong hair before this. I had to cut it to shoulder length, it hasn't been this short since the 80's.It's still snapping off. My hair dresser commented this isn't your hair. I've lost at least half my hair and it's not slowing down. I look like Roseanne Rosannadanna, I used to get complements on my beautiful hair, no more.
I haven't had a perm since 62', I've never had my hair died or bleached and I've used a blow dryer maybe 5 times in the last year. My hair looks fried and fragile

Fortunately (or unfortunately?) I didn't know about the membership policy until I received the products thru the "free trial". My friend advised me that I'd be charged for the membership, that's when I double checked. Needless to say, as a very fruigal person, this is a shock to me, and I immediately called to cancel my "membership". They offered a prolonged trail period and 69.95 per bi-monthly shipment. So I tried another month of that product. My boyfriend made comment about my hair (looking nicer) without knowing I've been on the new products--and coming from a guy, I think it must've been a dramatic change.
Now I have this delimma, should I spend $35 per month on my hair? Shoot, I don't even spend $35 a month on coffee or make up! So I just called them again today, and agreed to the $69.95 for another two months, I'll give it that long until the result of the fullness can be attested. (So far I only see the difference in length and how my hair feels.)
I really do have the beef against the chaotic pricing they have there though... If only they offer that great product cheaper, in a standardized price so I don't feel scammed...

Glad I read all these postings. I almost ordered this product! I checked to see if it was available at Sephora or other reputable sites and it was not so I had my doubts about it's worth. I hope others have the sense to do some research first before blindly ordering ! No way I'm getting into ordering this. BTY "Phyto" brand makes a vitimen especially to help improve hair/nail growth. My hairdresser told me about it. He said to start off taking 2 in a.m. and 2 in p.m. for a month then go to 2 a day. It takes about 2 months to see improvement but it really does work. Cost is $50.00 for 120 pills but it does really help improve your hair/nails. I even noticed my eyebrows and eyelashes look thicker! Sephora sells it.

I tried the free trial and before the end of 30 days there was a charge for the full price on my credit card! I called and said I wanted to cancel the shipment and was told there was no shipment scheduled that charge was for the end of the 30 day trial.

When asked why I wanted to cancel, I said too expensive and I did not need to receive the product as frequently as they would send it.

So they reduced the price and offered to extend the time between shipments. I said nevermind and they cancelled.

I did pay full price for the "free" trial.

I like the product, so I went to site to order just the shampoo and conditioner. There was a special offer, both for 52.95. When I clicked buy now, the price was 79.95 + 6.95 shipping.

I tried buying single shampoo for 29.95 and the "buy now" price when I clicked was 39.95.

Needless to say I bought nothing!

I can figure no way to get the on site advertised reduced price.

"Daphnie is Obviously an OOKISA employee... disregard her one-sided comments!" And you, Mitch, are Obviously a ###. Just because I call someone a ### for not being smart enough to read the fine print doesn't mean I back a product 100%. Infact, I no longer use it since they raised their price. It's good, but not That good. Quit crying over shampoo because you're dumb. It's not my fault. If your life revolves losing your manhood over shampoo .. well .. I pitty your gene pool.
I now allow you to go on with your lives, as sad as they may be for I am done with this product and you ###s who cry over it.
The end.

It tells you right in the order confirmation that after 35 days you will receive a shipment and be charged $89. If you want to cancel you send back the samples and call customer service. It was right there in black and white.

Daphnie: I agree with you about people not reading the terms & conditions and then complaining about it, but first I think you should lose the attitude as you have nothing to do with this person's experience. I had a similar situation happen to me with a different company, and I DID read the terms & conditions. As soon as I received my free product, I called to cancel so they didn't bill my credit card after the free trial was up. 3 weeks later I try to use my debit card & and I couldn't because they billed me and made my account go negative. If this person received a letter saying they only had 14 days instead of 22 days like it said in the terms, that's a scam. You can't say one thing and then go back on your word. Someone reads the terms, it sounds good, then before you know it, you're on the phone with customer service for 2 hours trying to get it resolved. The only way I could see you being somewhat defensive about this is if you worked for this company. If you do, then tell them they need to rethink their terms & conditions.

Interesting. What makes you assume the ad I clicked was the same offer with the same terms, or even from the same time period? Are you suggesting there is only one ad and only one campaign strategy for OOKISA products? It sounds as if you are naive. But you did have a copy of terms handy to post, now didn't you? Not the same terms, but nonetheless terms that imply full disclosure in response to complaints. How lucky you are to be posting on a complaint website in defense of a company's sales tactics. Odd, but good for you to take this time out of your day.

Now will you enlighten me why the "30-day free trial" mysteriously becomes a 14-day free trial? Of course I mean after they obtained my credit card info? You won't tell me it's because they sent "30 days worth of hair products" will you? They already tried that one. Are you going to tell me it's 30 days from the time of ordering? That's hardly a 30-day trial is it? They tried that too. Actually, I don't see "14 days" even written anywhere in the terms you posted above. I did read it slowly and twice. Funny, isn't it? I mean the part about offering a "30-day free trial" but charging someone's credit card after only 14-days? Well, maybe not exactly funny.

Can you also explain the lack of a full refund? Their initial explanation about $10 extra shipping charge didn't work for me because I already paid $5.95 shipping upfront, plus I also paid the return postage to send the original products back to them. Please don't say it was sales tax as they attempted too, because sales tax on something free equals zero, unless my math is wrong according to your wisdom. Sales tax is refunded on returned merchandise, isn't it? I know it is in my state, but how about yours?

I'd never suggest you are a shill and post to online forums for the company or its affiliates. We haven't even met. But there is one last thing. Can you tell me what they do with all those bottles of shampoo and conditioner everyone pays to ship back to them? They're not squeezing it back into new bottles and shipping it off to other customers, are they? I might be stupid, but that sort of rumor just seems gross!

Thats funny because when I clicked "Free trial" I saw "Terms and Conditions", sitting right there in front of my face, clicked on that and found this to be Very clear as to what was going to happen with my credit card:

Your FREE Trial of OOKISA™ includes a full 60-day supply for just $6.95 in shipping and processing. You will have 30 days to try OOKISA and discover why it is the perfect hair care system for you. If you like how this system makes you look younger with more youthful looking hair, do nothing – at the end of your free-trial period you will be billed the discounted price of $99.95. If for any reason the collection is not for you, call OOKISA Customer Care toll-free at [protected] within your 30-day free-trial period to cancel. Then simply return the product (even if it is empty!) and you will NEVER be billed. No commitments, no hassles.

Plus, if you decide to keep OOKISA, you will receive a fresh supply of OOKISA approximately every 60 days at the same low price of $99.95. You can cancel anytime by calling OOKISA Customer Care at [protected]. No risk, no obligation, cancel any time!

So, sorry you weren't smart enough to read the fine print but it's there. Your complaint is void. It's not their fault you didn't read what you were sending your credit card number in for. Maybe next time you'll be a little smarter.

It is a scam. They have several free trial offers floating in slightly different variations, all of which are designed to get your credit card number and charge $100+shipping for the first automatic shipment.

DISPUTE THE CHARGE WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY & CONTACT YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. For California see http://ag.ca.gov/contact.php

Company info:
OOKISA

The banner ad I clicked definitely did not disclose the full terms. I saved a copy. The language is purposely ambiguous and incomplete. They also change the terms frequently to suit their goal. In fact, like the author above, the free 30 day trial in my case was reduced from 30 days, to 20 when my wife received the package, and only 14 days before they charged 109.95 to my credit card. Calling them did no good since the sales reps are trained like parrots to read a script. I eventually informed them I disputed the charge with my credit card company so they quickly replied I would receive a refund. Well, they only refunded $99. Upon calling, a rep claimed the extra charge was for shipping. When I disagreed stating I paid $5.95 for shipping, she changed her reason to sales tax. When I said the product was returned and therefore sales tax does not apply, she said she can't talk to me because the order was shipped to my wife. Incredibly absurd and dishonest!

These tactics are a scam no matter what you think of the product. By the way the product is a copy of the #1 selling shampoo in Japan known as Shiseido Tsubaki. You can buy it in the US for much less than OOKISA.
