Ocean State Veterinary Specialists review: Negligence

My beloved fur baby was having a medical emergency . I called the 24h emergency hospital and they turned me away because " we are not taking any new patient's" but It's a 24-hour emergency hospital! They asked what was wrong and if it " was a dire emergency". How can they access her condition over the phone?  It was a dire emergency!

 They then gave me a list of five places to call instead. I called ALL of them and told me the same thing," we are not taking new patients”. I adamantly advised them that she would not make a long trip. All they said was " sometimes you have to drive to get the care you need" Not over an hour when you know your fur baby isn't going to make that drive. I stressed that to them, " she wouldn't make it!" They didn't listen and I felt that they just brushed off the situation. I called every vet that was open and got no where!

She was getting worse, so I called them back in hysterics as my boyfriend was sobbing on the floor next to her. I advised them of how bad the situation was, they finally decided to have me come down, which is about an hour drive. We got in the car and started to drive there but not even 10 minutes on the road she pasted away in my boyfriend’s arms.  That all could have been avoided if they said to come 4 hours ago, she would be alive.

What they did was unethical and negligent on their part. This didn't have to happen and they should be held accountable for their actions. Both me and boyfriend will be forever traumatized by this ordeal and will never be the same. This didn't have to happen! They brushed it off and said " good luck" . That tells me that they don't really care at all.
