This is the worst school anyone could ever attend. After initialing reviewing the school for attendance and employment, I uncovered unethical proceedings that were taking place. There was no one in financial aid that could assist a student with what they qualified for in funding, but yet they were able to start their program, receive book, and receive their uniforms. International students were expected to pay their tuition and room and board in advance, but yet were never issued I-20s to be able to get into the country and attend the school. Again, there was no one hired, trained or educated in attending to these types of individuals. The company Director, and Owner, as well as owner's daughter flew out of the country to attend a pastry event that had nothing to do with any one other than the owner, and all on company expenses which left the campus unattended for an entire week. The Dept. of Education notified the Director while she was on her trip that they would be coming in for an audit of the files, the Director came back into town and the night before had everyone on campus running around and trying to fix and fudge student files so that they were "legal" for the audit the next day. Every one was expected to be present for the entire night until items were fixed. Admissions had to pull students out of class that day to have them sign documents that should have been completed prior to their beginning class; with some students being in class for over 6 months already, and their documents were no where to be found. This is the worst run school, with lack of training, policies and procedures. They have no management skills and are unethical in every entity of the campus and what is stands for. I would be ashamed to receive my diploma from this institution, regardless of whether it was from a world reknowned chef, or not. Ridiculous management. Poorly ran school. Their vision and mission, or lack thereof, is not represented by anyone that works there.

My wife and I flew down for a weekend Pastry course, after confirming class was to be held ( you cancelled class on us 3 times prior). We arrived for class and Denise told us class's was cancelled a 4th time. She told us we should submit receipts for 'everything' while we are in Orlando. We provided receipts for reimbursement and called for 5+ weeks. Denise told us check was being mailed on Nov 1.
We never got the check. And now Notter Pastry has not answered phones since Nov 15!
I read on [redacted] that the school has been closed due to a dispute between the owners. I am filing small claims suit for the money we've not been reimbursed for class cost, flights and hotel. If you want to resolve this amicably... Then call me at 410-xxx-xxxx (((REDACTED))).

ewald may be a great chef and teacher, but if he accepts what goes on in his school then he is complicit and therefore part of the problem. he should man up and fix things instead of trying to bone his female students (ask susan notter about that).

I agree that Chef Notter is a wonderful, talented, and amazing person who truly is dedicated to pastry art and teaching. He has my complete respect as the world's best chocolatier and sugar artist. Also, the school is clean, uses quality ingredients, and the chefs instructors are knowledgeable and serious about helping students get an education. *****BUT***** I was *personally* one of the students who was pulled out of class in June 2011 to sign loan documents when I was set to graduate in July! They dropped a huge bomb on me. None of the payment agreements were the same as the documents I had originally signed, they informed me that my loan had "never been processed" and that I had to start making payments immediately. I was completely shocked. I had been told that all my loans would be deferred until after graduation. I didn't know what to do, so I signed ... I was made to feel that if I didn't sign the documents and start making payments immediately, that I wouldn't be allowed to graduate after putting in all the hard work that I had until that point. They also asked me for copies of paperwork that I had already brought in before beginning classes, saying that they "weren't in my files". I had to produce identification for them to make copies of and even had to go back and ask a former employer to re-write a letter of recommendation for me! (This was not by any means unusual, it happened to almost every person in my class!) After graduation I could not find work and the placement department was (is) a big, fat joke. Their idea of career placement is forwarding emails from job websites that any idiot with a computer can find on his or her own. It's a year and a half after graduation as I type this. I still have no job, I'm $22, 000 in debt from student loans (by the way, as much as I admire my chef instructors, it was NOT an education worthy of 22K), and I feel like my diploma is probably going to be a joke when I show it to potential employers since Beverly continues to run the school's reputation into the ground. Oh, and, speaking of my diploma, my fellow classmates and I did not receive our's for SEVEN MONTHS after graduation. We had been told they 'weren't in yet' and that we would be handed a blank piece of paper on graduation day with our diplomas to be mailed one week later. HA. What a joke. Just another of the many lies Beverly lead us to believe, like the promise of well paying jobs, immediate employment after school, etc, etc ...

As a graduate of the Notter School of Pastry Arts as of Dec. 16, 2011, I feel I have received a very good education from them. I thoroughly enjoyed all of my classes. They use the best ingredients, equipment and supplies were plentiful, and I thought that the teaching chefs had tons of experience and did a great job passing on their knowledge to their students. Chef Notter is a world class pastry chef who personally taught 2 of my classes. Although it took me a little while to find a job, I am happy to say that I'm working at a Hilton here in Orlando and I love it!

Is their system perfect? No, but I went to school to learn the art of pastry and to get a job in the field and that's exactly what I did. You should go to the school and personally talk to the chefs there. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to talk to you about the school, the program, and to show you around. Best of luck to you!

Notter School of Pastry Arts is a huge scam. The President /Owner Beverly Karshner is very unethical, unprofessional and a conartist. She and her partner in crime Amy Kilpatrick will forge a document in a minute. I have witness their unethical acts. Employees generally last about 2 weeks if they are lucky. Big Salaries and benefits are promised but never received. Ewald Notter is a very good man and outstanding chef, it is just too bad he is a partner of a crazy lunatic. Someone needs to inform him of the unethical things Beverly is doing. Last but not least, if you work there either your check will bounce or you just may not get paid. Working at that school was emotionally draining. Constant calls from the bill collectors was outrageous. Past employees showing up daily for final checks and Beverly and Aimee would hide in the office.
