I had retained Scott J. Ferrell and the Newport Beach law firm where he is a partner about 7 months ago for an employment litigation matter. I found problems in the service Mr. Ferrell provided early on. He communicated almost entirely through a paralegal and a junior attorney whom I had never met, and who, in my view, did not understand the substance of the case. The written discovery was full of errors and was submitted late. I had virtually a few hours to review and comment on the information submitted. Somehow, the Defendants were able to secure discovery sanctions against us. When I finally met with Scott Ferrell, he was short and unapologetic. He told me that if I was unhappy with his firm's services, I could just go and find another lawyer. I did just that, and in the process learned that the strategy in my case was not just flawed, it did not exist. Scott did not preserve certain rights early on, and prepare for the discovery such as the depositions. My new attorney is trying to resurrect the case. I am deeply disapointed with Scott Ferrell and the newport trial group. I question the veracity of the recently posted series of posted positive reviews, which prompted me to leave mine to make sure people consider my experience before going down the road of partnering with Mr. Ferrell on something as serious as a legal matter, particularly one involving litigation.
