National home gardening club life membership

I am home due to the virus and reading magazines. Realized I had no new Gardening magazines. With my membership, I was to get the magazine free for life. I had so many Birds and Blooms I didn't realize it. What happened? Did the Club go under, get new management, realize the cost of magazines for life was too much and reneged on the deal, CEO run off with profits? What! Please advise what happens now! I saw many complaints on the internet, that you were not honoring lifetime memberships! Did you buy them? I see the name has changed some and the emblem has too. I would greatly appreciate a response. I worked 15 years in Customer Service for a National Tool Company and I serviced their school and government accounts. I understand things change. But don't just leave us out to dry!
Thank you for your time.
Mrs. Wanda A Kendall (age 72)
contact information
I signed up as a lifetime member in 2009 and for awhile you sent me magazines and sales opportunity, but I let you skip any contact with me. Now, when I want to resume contact, I cannot find a way into your customer service.
I too paid the money. Try their things and sent back opinions. Really nice for a while.
What happened? Just gone?
life member not receiving any benefits.
I Joined National Home Gardening Club May 9th, 2005. Member # [protected] I received a postcard stating I needed to go online and signup & login which I did in Feb 2012. Since then I had been busy with illness & life changes. I came a crossed the post card a few weeks ago and have tried to contact them to see what happened to my life membership I paid for. I haven't been able to find out anything. Can someone answer this for me Please.
Sincerely, Roberta Hoopes 51325 N. Ridge Rd Vermilion, Ohio 44089

The same happened to me, as soon as I became and paid for lifetime membership, everything stopped. No more anything! I wish I never did this and have no one to contact either.
I became a charter member in April 1999. I became a life member shortly thereafter. Sadly it appears that, although we who became life members did so with honest intentions, the folks at the National Home Gardening Club did not share our goals. Were we all scammed?

I have the same issues. Things were going great and nothing. Is there anyone out there that has come across any information?
Just called the NATIONAL GARDEN CLUB in St. Louis to learn that the
NATIONAL HOME GARDENING CLUB in Minnesota is out of business.
Woe to us who paid a handsome fee - some of us charter members - to
be swindled by NHGC. So much for lifetime memberships!

I, like many of the complaints I’ve seen, purchased a lifetime membership in the National Home Gardening Club. I’ve received nothing from them in years and recently tried to access their website to find it no longer exist. I never received communications from them stating they were dissolving the club. Was my $125 membership in vain and do I have any recourse?
national home gardening club lifetime membership
National home gardening club lifetime membership since 1997. I received magazines and test products for quite some time but then all the sudden I received nothing. I paid $300 for a lifetime membership and I am still very much alive and this is not being honored. I feel if they are not going to honor this they should have to refund my $300. I currently still have my lifetime membership card that was mailed to me by this company.
I too joined the National Home Gardening Club. I have a "LIFE MEMBER" card from 1997. If it still exists I sure would like to hear from them, again.
I paid the 300.00 too, received a couple of things then nothing. I have been a member since 2008 and have not received anything since the first year. This is a rip off, I dont even get a magazine or anything. I still have my lifetime membership card also. What can I do to get this made right?
My Mom and I joined the National Home Gardening Club many years ago. We received their magazine for years and my Mom loved it. I used to send in pictures every year for their contest and even saw some of my photos in their magazine. Then suddenly the magazines stopped and they said I had to get it on-line. That worked for a little while and then I could no longer log in and everything stopped. My membership card says I am a premier life member. Whoopee - it doesn't help if it doesn't exist anymore. I was just trying to find IF it still exists when I came across this complaint site and saw you made a recent complaint. I was wondering if you have any idea if it still exists? I found something on Pinterest when I Googled National Home Gardening Club https://www.pinterest.com/NHGC/_created/
that you may want to check out. I don't know if it is the same club or not. Good luck locating the club.
I have been a national home gardening club life time member since thw 1990's. I loved the magazine, and the test items. In still using my multi tool trimmers and loved the cucumber seeds they sent out, ( im still saving seeds) when I paid for the life time member ship at 20 years old i thought it was a great investment. Im now 50 and have not heard from them in years. I feel I should get my money back.
Was a lifetime member, I had to shut the account down due to problems of a personal nature. This IS NOT THE CASE ANYMORE. I would like to re-establish my membership please. thank you.
I have been looking for then also. HELP that's a lot of money! I enjoyed the magazine and tips. Just Vanished! no contact info nothing!
my lifetime membership
I had sent in two money orders to the address I think up north towards the payment of the life time membership. I think that I have $125.00 left to pay. The two money orders were sent back to me saying that the address up north was not working or that there was no such address. Could I have the new address to finish paying for the membership. Nicola Garcia, NewYork.
magazine and test products
I paid for a "Lifetime" membership several years ago.
I have not received a membership, products to test or any communication for some time. I was just checking on-line and can't find a phone number or other way to communicate with them.
All I can find is complaints from other members who have not heard anything.
There should have been some kind of communication from the company.
Now, we should receive a refund of some of our money.
Thanks for your help.
lifetime membership
I too, like I see many in the same boat; have a lifetime membership I paid for and can not get in touch with anyone. How can a company offer lifetime memberships and then shut down. Shouldn't there be some kind of restitution?
I moved and also remarried and I forgot to change my address but my mail has always be forwarded.

I have a lifetime membership. I have not received a magazine since 2013. I would like to know why?
I haven't received anything from them since 2013 either. I think they took our membership fee and disappeared. I should have known better!
What happened to our lifetime membership in this club? They left us cold and dry. 🌻
I paid for a life time membership, also. Bought some books. Got my magazines, and then all of a sudden, nothing! Been years since I heard from them. I just thought it was me, but, I see it's many people. They could at least have let us know what was happening. I enjoyed the National Home Gardening Club. What happened? 🌻
I see other people have the same problem! I have a lifetime membership since 2007. I paid for It and can not get in touch with anyone. How can a company offer lifetime memberships and then disappear! Shouldn't there be some kind of restitution?

I too am a "Lifetime" member. I haven't rec'd anything from them form several years. I ran across my membership card a couple of days ago, and began wondering what became of my $180 dollar investment. I enjoyed the magazine and testing the products. Does anyone know what happened to them?
Same thing happened to me. I made the investment. Bought quite a few of the books and then. Nothing. All my mail had been forwarded as well. Few years back. Maybe further. Stuff just stopped. Found my folder for lifetime membership and am just researching now
I found my lifetime membership # on one of my mag's I kept. #[protected]... what can we do? I'm lost here but this fricking sucks big eggs! B. in Bardstown, KY
I had not been involved in the club in a few years but not only paid my life time membership once, but then paid it a second time for as they stated at the time for "more perks" Im not sure what that means. I enjoyed the magazines but haven't received them in a long time. Is this club even valid anymore, does anyone have any information on it, is there no one to call or contact the number on my membership cards does not work, anyone have ANY information ?
lifetime membership
I joined as a life time membership years ago. Always wondered what happened to receiving products to test n the magazines. Went to sign into my account and it's invalid, doesn't exist! Went to call the 1-800 number and rec'd a message that the destination number was not found. What happened to my life time membership? I've never received any type of information from them stating anything about my life time membership. This is fraudulent at the least. Took my payments and ran away.
And another Lifetime Member who was cheated out of hard earned money. What can we do?
Another lifetime member here. They certainly were quick to collect our money for those memberships. Maybe we should start a class-action lawsuit to see if we can get some of our money back. Any suggestions on lawyers?
Also a lifetime member (beginning in 2009) and would echo many of the comments. Loved the magazine, tested a few products (some were good, some weren't so good) and then stopped receiving anything in 2015 after a second move. Now a bit more settled, I was looking to update my mailing address. Guess not. Would be interested in hearing any more info.
I don't remember when I joined. It was sometime in the late 1990s. When I paid for the lifetime membership I was sent at least $400 worth of gardening tools. 3 types of clippers/pruners, adjustable hose nozzle, an extension "shower" for the hose, a curling/retractable hose, padded kneeling pad, washable "blanket" with plastic on one side, and gloves. I still have the gloves. Gave most of the stuff to relatives when I moved to an apartment. I got my $s worth from them. Sorry they have gone out of business and reneged on promises made.
Lucky you! I paid about the same and didn't receive a darn thing except a pruning tool they wanted me to test. It was lousy, poorly designed and they wanted feedback. I gave it to them and that's the last I hear from them. It was a fraud.
I'm in the same boat as everyone here. It appears the complaints go back at least to 2019 and nobody has gotten any response. Lifetime membership...what a fraud
I signed up for the National Home Gardening Club in 2012. Just found my folder with the Premier Life Member card. Like everyone else I've haven't received anything in years. I really enjoyed the magazines too.
Same here, what a rip off.
I thought I was a life time member. Paid $400 to join in 2006. Other than some tools, I have not heard from them in years. Did I see that it was bought out by Scout. No one notified me.. What year was this..

I joined the National home gardening club April of 2006. Was it bought out by Scout and they do not honor the membership.
What can we do about it.
I paid to be a life time member of the National Home Gardening club around 1995. When I became a life time member they sent me a mat to kneel on while weeding, which I use every year and tools for gardening, which again I am still using today. I used to buy calendars from them every year. It just dawned on me the other day, when I realized my clippers are getting a little dull, and thought I would see if I would be able to get some more. Then I found this and something on Pinterest. I'm really sorry to hear this has happened.
Unhappy about this

I have been a Life Member of the National Home Gardening Club since 2007; Member # [protected]. I believe I stopped hearing from them in 2010. I received one poorly made pair of anvil clippers to review which I did. That was about it. Oh, I did get the canvas bag and cheap garden tools. I just found my card in an old wallet. I started looking online and came to this page. I know I paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $400 for this membership as I am sure many others did. We deserve something for our money. Should there be a class-action lawsuit, sign me up!

I have been a Lifetime Member since 08/04. Received some garden tools, that were suppose to be lifetime guaranteed. They have finally started falling apart. The tree loppers handle broke, the handles on digging tools have gotten loose. I kept in touch online for a few years. Was sorting through some business cards and found my membership card. If they closed their doors it was a short lifetime. I want a refund. I moved since then a few times but I can send my new address and phone number along with my Membership number # 9309283. Are they still in business or was this a scam too.
I had forgotten about this company until I ran upon my old membership card and a gardening book. I remember being promised multiple gardening items for testing and free entry into any garden in the US. I don’t think I’ve had any mailings since I paid it off in like 2002ish? Just the stupid binders and cards of plants.
Same here. Wondered why everything just stopped when I too, have a Life Membership. I did enjoy the magazine and tested a couple of products. Came across my card but after investigating and finding the club defunct, I threw it out. I do have some of the magazines and some tools though.
Lifetime member since July 27, 2008. No contact in years. No money back. Nada.

I joined as a lifetime member back in 1995 and it was not inexpensive, but I thought it was worth it for a lifetime. I enjoyed the magazine and trying out new gardening products. Then everything suddenly ended and it was impossible to get any results, just silence. Eventually I found out it was one of the biggest scams in the U.S. Who ended up with all the money? And why there was never a class action suit? All the life members received no justice! no compensation! Someone got rich and justice looked the other way!
Life Time Member since June 2001!
I've moved a few times, always updated my address. Now - I get nothing.
Very sad.
The picture I attached was obviously the wrong one.
Here is a copy of my membership.
Me too, ripped off.
I, also, signed up for a Lifetime membership. What does it take for a Class Action Lawsuit to happen? Any lawyers in this group?
What do we do about this? I also had a lifetime membership since the late 80's to mid 90's. I had forgotten all about it (got sick for a few years) until this spring when I found my gardening gloves with the logo and lifetime member status on them. This is very disappointing.
I have a lifetime membership as well and forgot about it until I saw my membership gloves today, June 14, 2022. I have since moved and remarried. What can I do?
Add me as well. Charter Lifetime Member of Cooking Club of America and National Gardening Club. mhoward1451@hotmail.com
Yes, me as well for BOTH of these "lifetime membership clubs". It wasn't cheap to join either of them! Yet now it's as though this kind of membership doesn't exist! There's gotta be SOMETHING we can do...?!?
the offer of the coupon card is very misleading
In June of 2011, I received an offer to join the National Home Gardening for the two year rate of $24.00. I was told that I would receive, for this money, “Gardening How-To” magazine, some packets of seeds, 4 free gifts and some other items.
The 4 free gifts are as follows: 1) Fiskars bypass pruner, 2) Kneelinjg cushion, 3) $20.00 in Gas rebates and 4) $100 Grocery Coupon Card.
On July 1, I sent my check for $24.00. I am not much of a gardener but I figured how could I go wrong with these free gifts. After repeated inquiries, I finally received the pruner and kneeling cushion in Sept. I did also receive a voucher for 4 $5.00 gas rebates, one to be used each of the next 4 quarters of the year.
A few weeks ago, I finally received a form to fill out to receive my $100 grocery coupon card. I was to fill it out and send it in with a stamped, self addressed envelope to then receive my card. Did that. Today, Nov 14, I received my “Grocery Coupon Card”. It is a list of over 900 products and 10 stamps. Each of these 10 stamps are marked “Grocery Coupon Certificate $10 and an expiration date of 9/30/2012. I am supposed to pick 48 of my favorites products from the list and send back that list of my favorites with one of the $10 stamps. I am to enclose $1.00 for handling and a stamped, self addressed envelope and I will then receive $10.00 worth of coupons for some of those products that I picked. These coupons may expire in as little as two weeks after I receive them. Then I am supposed to repeat this process each month for 10 months, altho the $10 coupons are only good until 9/30/2012.
I actually have probably gotten my original $24.00 worth but feel that I would never have joined their club without the offer of the free gifts. The offer of the coupon card is very misleading. I would like others to know of this so they can be forwarned.
Have been unable to contact anyone.
I bought the lifetime membership and I moved so I looked it up on the internet after receiving nothing. I can't believe they are not honoring the membership. This is highway robbery. They should have to give our money back. No integrity at all. This is stealing.
I paid for life time membership May 2005. My member number [protected] and my address 3241 Moss Neck Rd. Pembroke, NC 28372.
I would like refund of all money paid. Some of us struggle to make ends meet and then you got people taking advantage of that. Pretty sure y'all not struggling to make it after stealing people's hard earned money.
My name is Cindy Locklear
i have been a life member since 2000 and havent recived anything for years just wondering why this is my membership number is [protected] i would like an answer back please and thank you
My membership entitled me to all privileges and benefits of membership. Listed: Gardening How-To magazine with Club News. Free Product Give-Aways. Free Product testing opportunities and reports. And much, much more! National Home Gardening Club PO Box 3416 Minnetonka, MN 55343 member# 045855. No reply to letter, magazine and news stopped.
i was also misled by the "sweet" deals offered by the nhgc in that the offered free coupons, products to test and to keep, and allured into what has turned out to be a fancy 'front' for a high priced book club. I finally pounded the "O" button on my cell phone enough to get thru the maze of computer prompts and got a warm body on the other end. Ms jones was providing the "puppet -like" responses she had been given and she finally informed me that she could not access the info I needed due to computers being backed up(during peak business hours). I find this difficult to apprehend that a club with over a million members could not properly answer simple queries about my newly established membership. Items promised were not included and I was required to jump thru another hoop to receive the services promised. At that time I told her that I would formally send my request for the stated member fee refund because I was not at all satisfied with the services rendered according to their agreement for my member dues. I asked her what were the titles of the upcoming selections. She told me there were several collections including over sixty titles @ $24, 99 +$4.99 S$H. that comes to over $1800.00 just in book fees if I kept them all. It would take an awful lot of products to test to offset the allure of the perks promised! I'M OUT!
