Michael's Craft Store review: Not honouring clearance signage

When picking up two pads of watercolour paper, I saw two jars of gloss medium on clearance for $9.99 down from $19.99. This was not honoured at the cash, and when I went back to show the assistant, the signage had quickly been removed and the product assigned to a different location. The charms at $4.99 were cashed in at $6.99, so there appears to be some very slipshod stocking.

The assistant told me it was not illegal to ignore the posted signage, only when it was in print would that constitute false advertising. She snidely stated that I did not understand barcodes (but the signage was not retrieved to check, and I am a cashier elsewhere who is very good at CS and problem solving). Further, she charged me over $62 so I questioned that. She impatiently re-rang my purchases, and they came to $40.07. I did not get the seniors discount, though my phone number was taken. Nor did I get an apology for the overpricing.

I will be letting my art class know that DeSerres and Above Ground have some amazing deals and discounts as well as online availability to think about. Sometimes the ease of shopping locally simply does not outweigh the reliance on a store using such practices.
