I had been a Marriott Club Points member for years and my experience is this a system that should be avoided. When you attend the sales pitch, Marriott tells you that they will buy the club points back at 60 cents on the dollar of currently valued points. When I sold, 10,000 points were costing $13,000 to buy from Marriott, Marriott paid me $2200. Worse when you book at timeshare properties the points have a reasonable value but when booking a Collette trip the cost from Marriott was slightly more in the annual maintenance fees than just paying Collette directly and the trip dates were the not as good through Marriott as through Collette. When booking a Marriott hotel thorough club points, you get the stated room cost not the market rate. In club points I was charged the equivalent of $850 per night for poor dates when the room cost at market rates was $270/ night. If you want a Marriott trip just pay cash, you get better selection at a lower cost. Marriott misrepresents the true nature of their 'club"
