Don't be duped. The Market America Web Design service is the most poorly run affair ever. They collect your money in full up front. Their contract states you have 90 days to cancel but my site never got completed for over 8 months. When I canceled out of frustration, they would not refund my money. My credit card company has not protected me in a charge back. I am out $1849 for a site that was never launched. They cited traffic on my site as their defense but that was only my accessing the site for communication with their employee who apologized for largely ignoring my work for months. I am interested in an class action suit.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Why not just have your own site built on the content management system of your choice and take responsibility for the design and development yourself while getting the help you need from a professional who offers an agreement and price structure that you find acceptable. There's a lot of work that goes into building and maintaining a professional website to meet the needs of any business. Is messing with any system or even trying to build your own site with any tool the highest and best use of your time as a business owner? MA clearly has some success in this area based on comments here. Do your home work before you hire any company. You need to contact Avoli, Inc. (www.avoli.com) for a quality website that is both professional, beautiful, completed quickly and a web site tht you can edit that won't break the bank. The Avoli web sites are far easier for you to maintain than virtually any other web site content management system I've found.
Wow, It sounds like you are pretty frustarted. I know that the maWebcenter division hosts 60, 000 sites a year and the design team builds 3000 sites annually. Obviously yours slipped through a crack in the service system since most business owners are up and running after using the design team in 6 wks, NOT 8 months.
I have found the software solution for business owners to be easy to use, and worth the amount invested considering the software includes CRM tools, Email Marketing, Unlimited Pages, Unlimited Changes, the ability to SEO and more.
If you still own your site since you sound "stuck with the payment" you are entitled to unlimited technical support to get it up and going. I would give them a call and bypass whomever sold you the site. That distributor may not be your ally, unfortunately. I know I am for my clients and have never had issues as you've described.
Whether it takes 5 mins or 5 hours on the phone with support, you can get your site live and working and begin seeing a return on investment. Email me if you'd like more info
