Be very careful if you consider using Dr. Petroff. Behind the fancy office is a doctor who I found cares very little about his patient
or any damage he may caused. I went in for a touch-up and came out with serious problems. The hardest part wasn't just the mistakes it was when I found him to be completely lacking in ethics and intergrity.
NOSE NOW DEFORMED: A minor beauty change turned into major deformities. I now have a nose that 'hangs off' the side, a crooked bridge and an airway that is blocked off because he collapsed the inside of the nose. This was caused by the way he actually performed the surgery not by any accident or problem with healing; so be very very careful with this man.
EAR REMOVED: The problem was not just in his technique. He only sees you once for 10-20 minutes and then has his assistants 'handle' everything else. He seems to 'forget' because he is so busy and doesn't remember what was discussed or the procedures. Without permission or consent, he removed a chunk of my ear to 'harvest cartilage' after specifically being told 'No' he KNOWINGLY did it anyway. My consistant experience is the Dr. Petroff seems to feel that HIS opinion is more important than the patient's concent.
WRONG PROCEDURE:He also did the wrong incisions in a endoscopic browlift which were supposed to be 'very small' tiny 1' scars but he opened up my entire profile on both sides. He cut me open like a watermelon and left me with scars that are throughout my entire head and highly visable. It ended up he may have misread the notes and attempted a FACE-LIFT! The paper where he marked the incision sites also suddenly 'disappeared' from the file. The very paper which showed he did the wrong surgery. He or someone in the office was was so busy covering up what he had done that didn't even try to just fix the damage.
When confronted with the problems he became defensive and refused to admit anything was wrong. Worse, after he took almost $14, 000, He refused to help correct any part of it and the only thing he seemed to want was for me to just go away and didn't care how I looked coming out of his office.
I tried working with him on every level to solve this problem, just asking that he correct the damage and to please at least fix the nose so I could breath again. Let me be very clear, I wasn't asking for damages or even a full refund. I only asked him to help fix the damage he did; Dr. Petroff refused to fix the nose to make it breathable, then refused to talk to me or even refund just enough money for the another doctor to do it. No matter how nice, compromising or direct I tried to be; Dr. Petroff effectively told me to go 'sue' him and never even offered a solution. It was heartbreaking to have someone you trusted betray you that deeply. A mistake is one thing, but what he did was much worse.
The reason this doctor shows 'No complaints' is the Oregon Medical Board actually does not list the complaints and in fact, goes to great lengths to make it appear the Doctor has a clean record so unless there is medical malpractice lawsuit has been won (which most people who go in for plastic surgery are too embarassed to do) there will be no complaints. I am not the only person who has had a problem with Dr. Petroff and his actions. Dr. Petroff HAS had complaints filed against him, they just aren't shown.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
My name is Mark Petroff, but I'm not the Mark Petroff, MD, you are referring to. I'm an artist who also just happens to be a very exclusive celebrity psychic. My powers? If Tiger Woods had come to me, I could have told him to stay away from the ladies and keep his hands to himself. But, did he come to me? No. Did he listen? No. Consequently, we now have Tiger Woods, a golfing "legend, " who has basically ruined his career, all because he didn't come to me, Mark Petroff, artist, snob and celebrity psychic and ask for my exclusive and free advice.
If you had come to me, Mark Petroff, artist, snob and exclusive celebrity psychic, I could have told you to stay away from Dr. Mark Petroff, the plastic surgeon. I foresaw that you would have complications from your surgeries and would have advised you to avoid surgery and simply breathe deeply and be grateful for the body and face that the Great Designer gave you. I would have advised you to be grateful for the many blessings in your life and I would have advised you to live your life through the joy of being of service to others and I would have advised you to speak the truth and not be attached to the outcome. I could have saved you $14, 000.00.
So, now, since I am a good Mark Petroff, not a bad Mark Petroff, I will give you a priceless bit of advice that you must practice every day from now on, even if you are not a cowboy:
Shoot low, they're riding shetlands.
I couldn't disagree more strongly. I found Dr. Petroff to be both compassionate and professional. He spent a lot of time with me, going over the procedures I had (endoscopic brow lift, eyelid surgery, eCo2 laser) including the alternatives available. He stressed what to expect, both in terms of results and healing. He and his staff gave me reams of paper which clearly identified what was going to happen in surgery and after. Now, 7 months later, I am thrilled with the results.
Cosmetic surgery is a significant undertaking and the patient needs to do his or her homework. I would recommend Dr. Mark Petroff without reservation!
I am considering a face lift < lower eyelid surgery and co2lazer resurfacing. I have already been extremely disappointed with prvious surgeries from other doctors and would greatly appreciate
any and all comments from anyone who has encountered surgery with Dr Mark Petroff
I had upper and lower eyelid surgery by Dr Petroff, I found him to be extremely helpful and skilled. I would recommend him to anyone considering and facial surgery. He and his staff were extremely helpful, with complete information given to me so I knew exactly what to expect before, during and after my surgery. I couldn't be more pleased and would never consider anyone else to ever do any facial surgery on me except Dr Petroff or someone he suggested. Extremely pleased and the surgery was actually quite easy to undergo Get your facial surgery done from him please trust me you will never be unhappy !
I am considering upper and lower eyelid surgery by Dr. Petroff. I would really appreciate more comments from REAL people who have had similar procedures done by this plastic surgeon. We all know how hard it is to find a skilled plastic surgeon especially if you live in a small city. Thank you in advance.
I had a facelift and endoscopic brow lift with Dr. Mark Petroff approximately 8 years ago. Overall the results were pretty good except he left me with a "Pixie Ear" on the right side which looked very odd. I went back to him after the surgery to discuss this and he had the nerve to state that my ear was always that way. My God, pictures don't lie. I gradually developed loose skin and bands on my neck. I went to a second plastic surgeon who told me that too much skin was removed from my face which resulted in the pixie ear. He made some other mistakes but I do thank God, the Medford PS was able to fix them. Personally, I wouldn't go to Dr. Petroff. He has a beautiful office, he seems very professional - - maybe he's had some very good outcomes, but I wouldn't risk it.
How do you check a plastic surgeon for complaints?
He did a BEAUTIFUL job on my rhinoplasty a few years back. My nose looks awesome, and almost no one can tell I had a nosejob because it looks so natural (though very different looking at photos from before the procedure). I didn't turn into a supermodel and have all my life's problems solved, and I didn't expect that. But I'm super happy with my nose and I couldn't have imagined a better outcome. I have a hard time imagining where all these "horror stories" come from. Weirdos.
I had plastic surgery with Mark Petroff in Lake Oswego several years ago. It turned out ok -- not great or ideal. I'm embarrassed to tell people the procedures I had done because I don't feel like my results look "good" enough to have been a result of plastic surgery. I've had multiple other surgeons want to correct what Dr Petroff did, but I can't afford it at this time. (Do you know how expensive a revision rhinoplasty is?) The weirdest/worst part about this is that I came across this original review on this page prior to having surgery -- but was so romanced by the idea of Dr Petroff giving me a new face that I went ahead with surgery, despite reading the warning.
I don't think he's a bad surgeon by any means. But I do think that there are better surgeons out there.
You very aptly described my experience with Dr. Petroff. I have a difficult time looking at myself in the mirror. Unless I smile all of time, I now have a frown with spoke like wrinkles on my upper lip. One side of my face is indented. He later injected Restylane (another $700) to even out my cheekbones. It really didn't work very well. He was supposed to remove jowls, but they are now accentuated and worse than before surgery. I mentioned the jowl issue to him but he dismissed with 'I don't know how that happened' type statement. My lower face sags. My brow lift wasn't too effective either. Some of my eye lashes now grow downward. He pulled my hair line upward so that my side burn area now starts at the top of my ears. I can no longer wear my hair pulled back without draping my hair over my ears to create a natural look. He was dismissive. I was too embarrassed and didn't want to draw attention to myself. This isn't what I spent almost $20, 000 for.
