I promise it’ll be a short review! I also promise that you will LOVE this app, it’s about all these romance novels. I have been using this app for only one day and I have already fell in love with it! I gave it 5 stars because that’s as high as you can go, but I would put like 25 stars if I could! I don’t usually right reviews but I HAD to tell y’all how awesome this app is. You can read at your own pace, the images are BEAUTIFUL, and the stories are so interesting! I use this app to help me calm down. I can use my phone in study hall now because this is a book app. I also love that it is completely FREE! There is no premium or diamonds you have to buy, NOTHING! It honestly the perfect app for people who love romance, comics/novels, and have a lot of free time on their hands. (I basically just describe myself ) Anyways that was a little longer than I expected it to be but I hope it was helpful! Have a great day! ❤️

I like how smooth and easy the interface is, especially when I’m scrolling through the chapters. The advertisements for the comics is also eye catching so kudos to the advertisement team for attracting readers. I also thank the translation team for bringing these stories for western audiences. The subscription plan is also quite cheap compared to other comics that rely on coin system to allow readers access to almost every chapter.

The only downside that made me take a star away is the obvious censorship for stories with mature content, especially for the BL genre. In my honest opinion, I don’t think I can enjoy the stories as much as I want to if panels displaying sex scenes fade to black or are simply omitted out altogether. It’s simply not following the story faithfully. I’m aware that there are legal reasons with respect to Apple Store policy but I hope the company knows that this issue will just lead readers to go to illegal sites for viewership.

The customer service is horrible. I paid for a subscription and the next day it was asking me if I wanted to sign up for their subscription as if I hadn’t already the day before. I reached out to them for a refund with several screenshots proving that the day I purchased the subscription and what it displayed on my account page in the app after my purchase. It wasn’t until I actually cancelled my subscription that it would reflect that I had subscribed on the account page by telling me when the subscription would end. They kept insisting that I was trying to access my subscription through a different account when that wasn’t the case I sent them multiple screenshots proving that it was the same account which proved that it was an app issue. They are still insisting that it’s an account issue when that’s not the case. At the top of all the screenshots were the same email address. Don’t waste your money the customer service is horrible. Webtoon is better.

My biggest gripes with this app are—it falsely advertises the subscription is $3.99 per month. It’s not. They charge a tax. It’s actually $4.23 a month. Sure it’s “just” $0.24 cents, but it’s the principle of the matter and it’s just upsetting they’re not upfront about that.

The search function could also be better. Picking a genre doesn’t seem to necessarily show you everything in that genre. There’s also no way to sort so you’re only seeing completed series, for example.

Lastly, it’s easy to go to the next chapter, but it would be nice to be able to just swipe back and forth between chapters if needed. Or if you swipe back on accident, it would be nice if it would just put you around where you left off chapter wise instead of making you scroll to find where you were.

Otherwise, the app has a good selection of webtoons that I see so far. I only subscribed so I can read certain ones, but after those series are over I’ll probably go back to being a free member.

A while ago, a Manta ad popped up on one of my social media’s with a few images from the story Under the Oak Tree and of course I immediately downloaded the app the learn more. Cut to me like a half hour later, majorly annoyed that I was already hitting a paywall. I decided to cave to the premium monthly fee, telling myself that I would just do it for a month to read a bunch of the stories. Then I could cancel it and periodically pay for a month to check in if I wanted.

Now it’s over a month later and I’m so happy with the service that I have no plans of stopping it any time soon. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE that the fee is just a monthly flat rate. I’m familiar with the Webtoon method that makes you pay for coins so you can buy episodes. This is so much better though! For four bucks a month I can binge read all the stories I want and there’s so much great content! I’m always finding new stories to read and already have several that I follow faithfully. The art is amazing, they’re super fun, and it’s a great way to kill some time on your phone.

Highly recommend this app!

Not sure why everyone is giving it horrible reviews just because you have to pay a fee to read the comics. I think the $4 a month is extremely reasonable, I already feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth out of it and my first month isn’t even over yet.

The library is very limited at the moment but they are adding more and expanding. The comics I’m currently reading I’m really enjoying. They even have ‘The Lady and Her Butler’ which is a premium comic on Tapas that you would have to pay PER EPISODE. For a comic over 100 episodes I would have had to pay well over $5 for it so I already feel like I’m getting a good deal on Manta.

My only complaints are of course the limited library at the moment, and the clunky loading. Sometimes when I first open the app all my subscribed and liked series have disappeared and I have to close and reopen the app to get it to show again. Also pressing on the notification bell or the heart icon is clunky, sometimes it doesn’t even respond and I have to press again. I feel if they improved the loading and reaction times of everything in the app then it would be a much smoother experience.

I don’t understand what this app keep licensing mature and adult stories and then heavily censoring them to the point where they sometimes don’t make any sense. Why are you trying to make adult themes and stories accessible to younger audiences. They are not the target audience either make a section of the website for adults like Tappytoon and Lezhin. Or just don’t translate those stories because you’re not doing the other any favors because then people will go and find the version that they want and translate it and uploaded illegally on website because that’s how I’m gonna to read totems realm and any other story that’s been heavily chopped up and censored by this app. I actually have no problem paying for stories I pay for Tappytoon, Lezhin and WEBTOON regularly. But I am an adult and the stories that I tend to re-have adult things and contacts and have a nice sensor really takes away from the story. You can go online to certain websites and constantly see comments or complaints about this app and how they are censoring these really good stories. Just pick up the Katie stories and leave the adult stuff for the other apps. stay in your lane

Manta Comics is beyond worth it. In 10+ years, I think I’ve reviewed 1-2 apps maximum…because who leaves reviews for apps. Lol. Manta is the exception for me. Highly, highly recommend. I’ve not even had my subscription two full months, yet I’ve read more series on here than I ever thought my brain could handle or juggle at one time. When you realize how much you get with this app at an extremely reasonable price, it’s an easy decision to subscribe. Well done, Manta Comics team.

*Pro tip: Have a series that you’re reading for every day of the week. That way, there’s a new episode to look forward to every single day.

Also, The Golden Forest is wildly underrated. It’s my absolute favorite series hands-down. The storyline has so many layers, and the episodes are very satisfying because you get enough content (that made it worth waiting a week for and not just something short to seemingly fill a weekly quota), yet there will still be the obligatory cliff hanger. Haha. There are truly so many good series on Manta (and they’re ALL binge worthy, so, buckle up), but The Golden Forest takes the cake for me. The complexity of the storyline plus the graphics/artwork are truly well done.

I resubscribe my account every other month due to my work and school schedule.

This app was my easy get away to read great webcomics without the hassle of searching on the web.

Unfortunately this months subscription didn’t go as expected, after hitting resubscribe button and logging/opening my account there was no “unlimited chapters” for me to read I was stuck behind the pay wall…

Emailing manta support team they said its an Apple issue. I can clearly see my Apple account was charged and my other subscriptions(like Crunchyroll) worked just fine except Manta.

I would subscribe again if only it worked. They tried giving me unlimited on both emails I’ve provided… but still didn’t work.
(I can see my saved favorites and past history’s of chapters I’ve read months ago) my account is logged in but still no unlimited access.

This was an issue that didn’t get solved right away, from Dec 17-27 for them to tell me it’s apples problem my account isn’t working and just 30mins for Apple to refund me and say the developers of manta controls account services and access to the app.

At least I got my refund, save your money and either find another app or just go back to using web links for free

Pros:
-Price(sooo much cheaper compared to tapas, tappytoon, pocket comics): I usually spend almost $100 a month just to read a couple webtoons and not even ALL of the chapters(most of them are ongoing) the subscription plan is AMAZING! Please keep this price the same and don’t get rid of it! I can read any comic now without worrying about coins and what not.
-easy layout
-good collection
-“coming soon” tab is a genius idea: who wouldn’t want to find out soon to be featured comics?
-more chapters: “Collide” is updated till ch. 34 in pocket comics, but in Manta, they have up to ch. 120 and 8 spin offs uploaded! WOW!

Cons:
-limited number of series: I’m really in to romance isekai comics and they don’t really have those. (You don’t need a subscription to see which comics they have)

To the developers:
please get in touch with the artist and upload isekai romance(tapas and Tappytoon has great selection) please get those comics. I don’t even mind if we have to pay $4.99 if you guys had those! You guys could even do different subscription tiers if those other comics are too expensive to host. I honestly don’t mind paying $9.99 per month if you guys had a great amount of comics! Thank you for this amazing app! I love it! I love you!❤️

I saw an ad for this on FB so I downloaded it, but I can’t even create an account. I tap on Continue with Apple and...nothing. Nothing happens. It just sits there. When I tap the App Support link here in the iTunes Store, it just takes me to the front page of the Manta website which also seems to take issue with either my iPad or Safari, I’m not sure which; I can’t scroll to the bottom of the main page and I don’t see anything that looks like a link to customer support at the top. I wanted to read some of these comics but...‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️ Can’t seem to get anywhere with the website OR the app. I’ll change my rating if you fix this.

Edit: I gave up on trying to use “Continue with Apple” and used a google login instead, and that worked. Why is the Apple login offered if it doesn’t work..? Anyways, my comments about the website remain unchanged, and I never heard a peep from support, so...‍♀️ After using the app for a few days my only complaint is as an iPad Pro user. The thing doesn’t use my entire screen like the other comic apps I have. I expanded it from what I assume is the phone version, but it’s still a strip down the middle of my screen with a good two or 3 inches of space on either side. Get with the times, guys. 4 stars since it def ain’t perfect...but I do like paying a subscription fee vs per comic (tho I expect that will severely limit what comics you manage to get for your app).

I downloaded this app for ONE specific series that I wanted to read without having to spend money for individual chapters/episodes. For $4 I was able to completely read that one series and then go on to read OTHER incredible series. It goes without saying that this is an incredible deal. There’s a good variety of romance comics and they’re all very high quality in terms of story and art. I really can’t fully express how good of a deal this is.

To all the people complaining about having to pay, I’m guessing that you’re probably not yet old enough to have a credit card/digit payment method. If that’s the case, then you’re probably not even old enough to read most of the series to begin with so...‍♀️.

If the devs want, they can implement a 1 time payment method for users who want to use the app without a subscription, that way some individuals can ask for their parents to pay or they can use physical money to buy a prepaid card and use that to make a 1 time payment for a single months use (the price would probably be bumped above 4 but it would still be a good deal imo)

To (the probably small) portion of people who can pay but simply don’t want to, please consider how much work goes into making these comics by the artists. It’s a lot of work and they deserve to be payed for that work, especially if it’s of the quality that’s being presented in this app.

So I saw a story online from this app. So I looked it up to see and found parts of the stories online and got hooked. So when they got deleted before I could finish I decided let’s see what the app is about and if it’s like all others asking for money upfront. When I downloaded it I was happy to see u don’t have to pay. And there were a few great free stories. But now one of them I wasn’t finish with that was free no longer is free. Found another free story and now that is no longer free. In fact there at this time (5-9-22) there is not one single free story you can just binge read chapters at a time since most stories have more than 30 chapters. I get that the app needs to make money but I wouldn’t use it that often for me to pay for the app. There should at least be a few free stories at all times to make people wanna keep reading for more than once a day if that based on other stories releases. Since some stories only update once a month Update: still does not have a single free story! The whole point of the review was that you had several free stories and in the description state there are free stories but at the moment of the review and the update there are zero free ones. So no one can read more than one chapter if they don’t pay. That was my entire point is that you claim to have free stories but don’t (5-29-22)

September 1st 2022 update. This is a second update from original post. No actual modification was made to the app in response to original issues. In face there r zero fully free stories now. It’s all free pass. This is a major step back. If I could do zero stars I would. But since I can’t you got a one. But you removed all fully free stories All together. Good luck app

Even though manta has responded they seem to have not read the title. Not everyone wants to subscribe. Your just another app that is only available to subscribed people because you just want more money. So please, sit here and tell me why free passes exist, because I know that all of it is just a way to get more money. I say that the people that just want to read, GET TO READ without having to pay. The system was fine before free passes

I downloaded it but it sead I have to pay for storytelling why can’t we just use Ink like tapatoons or tapasi love comics but this one really hit me in the heart I was about to delete it’s no fun to read free comics and you see a book that look great but have to buy for a month what a rip offf pls fix I’m still upset bc I can’t finish a book that I haven’t read in a long long time so pls fix I hope do but ima press to no button for this one

I’m subscribed to the unlimited access and everything was normal until yesterday when the app was saying I’m not subscribed so I wasnt able to finish reading my comics. i was thinking maybe the subscription was over and I needed to renew it but when I try clicking the purchase button it says I’m already subscribed basically paying for something only to not receive it. Kind of annoying but I emailed support yesterday and they havent replied yet.

Giving this app 1 star. The stories that were free and I was in the middle of reading have to be paid for now? Some of us can’t actually afford the extra $4-5 bucks. This is the 5th comic that I’ve tried reading that has been switched over. I’m honestly thinking about getting rid of this app. There are apps that are far better selections wise and do have options that stay free. It’s sad that this application cares more about money then the users. Thanks a lot.

Dear,Manta So I love this app and I don’t have an account so I read all the free stuff ones and I love the Story The Golden Forest but it is not free after the next episode even though there’s more episodes that I haven’t seen I have waited at least two months to see the ending of this and now I can’t I’m really frustrated with it can you please please please change it it’s very frustrating because I’ve waited so long to see the ending I really hope you take this into consideration.

So I like the comics they are a lot of fun to read but you get a daily pas after the first 5 episodes or something. The daily pass only lasts 72 hours I wish that if u used the pass it would last a couple months so you can unlock all of the episodes and than read it all in one bang. This is why it’s a two star. Compared to WEBTOONs it’s not as good just for that fact and yes this does happen with completed series on WEBTOONs but it’s with all of them on this app and I’m not for that.

I had gotten this app about 5 months ago and was enjoying it for the most part and was in love with some good series but once it comes to the first season final you have to pay for it. or at the end of the month. I’m not the kind of person who has enough money to pay for the stuff and i was really enjoying the books and really would love to see the endings but i can’t because they all become unavailable. I will be deleting this app on March 31st because that’s when all my series that i am reading will go away. ‍♀️

Let me start off by saying:
The series and stories are good. Quality goods 100%.
HOWEVER
the app has issues. I’ve had issues with all the sudden nothing loads whatsoever. No pages, no pictures, no other series nothing. I tried restarting my phone, updating my app, making sure my phone was updated, uninstalling and reinstalling the app. This started happening the moment I chose to pay for the subscription. So now I have a subscription I very much would like to use, but am incapable of doing so because the app itself won’t work.

Lots of stories on manta were good for the free stuff, and wanted to continue to read with the subscription, but that didn’t even work. To the point where it would to tell you to buy it again and then say already have it. I went to the help center and tried all my emails, but it still wouldn’t work so I messaged support saying I tried all my accounts, waited some days and got a bot answer that said for me try all my accounts. I messaged again they tell me to send a recording and I send recording and they haven’t replied since.

I just paid for a subscription today, and after I closed the app wouldn’t load. There would only be a picture on the home page and no comics, and it wouldn’t let me sign out, and it’s not letting me sign back in after deleting the app but continuing my subscription meaning I’m now paying for stories I can’t even read. I’m extremely frustrated since I’ve powered down my phone twice and deleted and re-got the app only to be locked out. And every time I hit the search bar it makes my entire screen go black and won’t let me go back or anything. Help would be appreciated

I have just subscribed/paid for the app, and although it worked well last night, when trying to access it today nothing loads on any of my pages - they are just blank. It says that I am unsubscribed even though I am - and when I go to subscribe, hoping that will cause things to show up on the app, it tells me I’m subscribed.

Each time I try to access help, it takes me to a page that warns me it’s not secure, so I don’t access it. I have tried shutting down my phone, deleting and reinstalling the app, and nothing is working.

Any help would be appreciated, and I’ll leave a good review.

I loved this app, I’ve had to delete and reinstall it so many times trying to fix it…here’s the issue, every time I open the app everything is gray. Nothing will load, it’s not a Wi-Fi issue because I’ve moved around and it won’t work anywhere not at my house or else where. I’d never had this issue it’s been going on for about a week. I had to cancel paying because what the point in paying for something that will never load. Not even the novels would load or show up…and when I hit the help center google and safari warn me from opening the website due to it being unsafe I really just don’t what to do…

I have been using this app for about a year now. I loved reading the stories in this app. Until about a few weeks ago. They changed many of the stores in the app making you pay for the stories. They turned into a monthly subscription to read the stories. Some my favorite stories I now have to pay a monthly fee to read. Unfortunately I see myself removing this app as I’m not going to start paying for something that they where giving me for free. I enjoy read the stories and i would have had no problem supporting the artist but there was absolutely no warning or information about the turn of events. Very disappointing.

First of all before I say anything, WEBTOON is way better than this garbage
This is literally just a KNOCK OFF VERSION OF WEBTOON, BE FR.
Second of all, the ad I saw literally said there was unlimited comics that I could binge read, nowhere in the ad did it say everything was locked and unavailable unless you literally come out of pocket.
Y’all are foul, ridiculous and absolutely in the wrong for misleading ppl to your app just for them to have to pay, how about y’all say that in the ads so ppl can choose whether or not they wanna pay money to read a knock off webtoon.

I saw an ad of instagram for this game and read the comments saying the story was amazing, so I downloaded it and started to read the story. This app made me happy until i realized I couldn't even read the whole thing unless I waited 24 hours for only one chapter. The story had about 40 something chapters. I was thinking about dealing with it but I thought about how long that will take, just for a story. I think this is annoying and stupid. My only complaints are how I have to
wait 24 hours for only one chapter, thats crazy to me. Waiting in general for any chapters is a waste of time and energy. Why publish this story and app if you have to just wait for everything you read.

Don’t get me wrong the app offers REALLY good stores but the same time that’s the problem, with hits like “Under the Oak Tree” the artist only uploads every 10 days and every 4th episode goes on hiatus. Normally one wouldn’t be a Provo but almost 89% the creators follow this pattern. The reason why is because you pay monthly to read everything for free but the amount of content you get for that month of payment is so little it’s better to just do what other apps do and charge per “chapter” or “tile”.
I really really wanted to support the app and read the many good stores it has but with how much it’s costing for the little content I get to actually read it’s not worth it at all to keep paying.

First of all, the stories are amazing and I love reading them! The only problem is, I would like them to have some all-free stories. I don’t understand why all stories start with a few chapters free, and when you really start to like the story, it just turns into something you have to either buy or wait for. 24-hours wait, and you only get one free pass, and the free pass only lets you read one chapter which only has like 5 pictures and a few words! I don’t want to spend money on a subscription because of the reviews and just because I have better things to spend it on. Please, give us at least more free passes or a smaller wait time, or just give some all-free stories! I don’t really recommend this app, just go buy books from the store, you’ll get a much smaller wait and you will have your money well spent.
