Dear Sir/Madam,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to formally escalate a series of ongoing and unresolved issues regarding my apartment at Vandy house Apartment 2E, in St. Louis. Since moving in on November 7, 2024 I have been experiencing severe pest infestations, including roaches and mice( I noticed it twice when I pulled my fridge out, and there is a mouse nest in my fridge, which then prompted me to pull my dishwasher out and behind there are several mouse droppings in addition to other areas where mice have made homes) . Despite my repeated complaints and attempts to resolve these issues with the St. Louis office, the problems have not been adequately addressed, and I have become increasingly frustrated with the lack of effective action.
1. Roach Infestation and Inadequate Treatment:
My first complaint regarding roaches was made on November 19,2024?only twelve days after moving in. Following this, maintenance staff, including Greg, did come to spray for pests. However, the treatment was ineffective, as the roaches returned shortly after. Subsequently, an exterminator was brought in, but all that was done was placing traps. These measures did not resolve the infestation.
I find it concerning that management claims to have performed pest control treatments during September, October, November, December, January, and February—several months in which I was not living in the apartment. The ongoing issue suggests that these treatments were either insufficient or improperly carried out.
2. Mice Infestation:
More recently, I have discovered mice living under my fridge and behind my dishwasher, which is unacceptable and further indicates the lack of proper pest control and maintenance. This poses a significant health and safety concern for me and my family.
3. Unreasonable Notice for Pest Control:
In addition to these ongoing pest issues, I was given less than 24 hours' notice for a pest control visit scheduled for April 4, 2025 The notice included a long list of demands, such as cleaning every cabinet in my kitchen, removing everything from the cabinets, and placing it all into the living room. As a single mother who works full-time and is also dealing with health issues, this was completely unreasonable. The time frame provided—less than 21 hours—was simply not feasible for me to complete the requested tasks.
Despite explaining this to the St. Louis office, I was informed that I had "denied entry." This is false, and I take issue with the fact that my inability to meet the unrealistic demands within such a short window is being misrepresented. I did not refuse entry; I simply could not comply with the unreasonable and impractical notice given to me.
4. Lack of Adequate Communication and Action:
I have made repeated attempts to communicate these issues through emails and phone calls, but I have consistently received little to no response. I have provided documentation and evidence of the pest infestations, yet the management team continues to claim that I have not adequately reported the problems. I have also been misled into thinking that the issues had been resolved after the maintenance and extermination attempts, but they have reoccurred, leaving me feeling unheard and unsupported.
Request for Immediate Action:
Given the persistent nature of these issues, the inadequate response from the St. Louis office, and the serious health and safety concerns I am facing, I am requesting immediate intervention from your corporate office. I respectfully ask that someone from your team take over the management of this situation and provide a detailed plan of action to resolve both the roach and mice infestations.
Additionally, I request that you ensure better communication, reasonable notice for future pest control interventions, and proper follow-through to prevent this from becoming an ongoing issue. I would also appreciate a written response detailing the steps you will take to rectify the situation and to address the false claims of "denied entry."
Please contact me at your earliest convenience at I look forward to your prompt attention to this matter and a satisfactory resolution.
Thank you for your understanding and assistance. I have set a date or a tentative date for them to come out although they do what they say his clover inspections, and that may be OK for some people and maybe they are not inclined to be bothered with living with an infestation, but I am immune compromised as well as I have small children, and I have never once in my life, had to deal with roaches nor mice as well as the lack of attention and ignoring the fact that I have made several maintenance request which have magically disappeared. I do have email correspondence for some of them, as well as pictures that I have sent which have been ignored on numerous occasions. I have held off with reporting this to the St. Louis Department of health although I am tempted to do so because it does not seem to be adequately treated. There is a complete infestation in the complex simply spraying is not doing anything. What happens as they will leave and come back And that is been what has been going on since I’ve been here for November 7 until now, April.
Sincerely,
Amanda Bernstein

Claimed loss: Several days of work, multiple doctors appointments because I’m immune compromised, anxiety, and stress

Desired outcome: At this point, I would like to be compensated because I have moved in November 7. My first complaint was November 19 and I have been met with nothing but opposition.
