Legit Store review: Cashier taking my debit card number and cvv number

Yesterday 23 October 2022 I bought items from Legit store at Mooi Rivier Mall, Potchefstroom. When I presented my bank card for payment the cashier requested my card and inserted it on the FNB speed point. It is worth to mention that there was a speed point at the teller which customers before me were using to pay and those speed points were not that of FNB. Thereafter, she wanted to type my card number on the computer and stared at the CVV number which I objected to. Cashier informed me that the store requires my card details to ensure that the transaction get approved. I objected that ever since I have been using my card not one store has requested my card number nor looked at my card CVV number at the back. I suspect that she wanted to clone my card. Advise me since when does retail stores and specifically Legit store requires consumers bank card number and check the CVV number.
