ADDENDUM ... THE WEBSITE FOR KARS4KIDS.ORG IS CERTAINLY ONE OF THE SLICKEST SITES ON LINE, AND WHEN YOU READ IT YOU GET THE FEEL IT IS A NON DENOMINATIONAL NGO CHARITY, , WHEN IN REALITY IT IS A JEWISH GROUP BASED OUT OF LAKEWOOD NJ. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT BEING A JEWISH GROUP, BUT THE SECRETIVE NATURE OF THE SITE with no obvious mention of it's religious affiliation WOULD BE ANALOGOUS TO THE MARCH OF DIMES CHANNELING ALL ITS DONATIONS TO A HINDU GROUP IN CALCUTTA.
Kars 4 Kids is a car donation program that uses the proceeds to help children. We are a genuine charity and run real programs to assist as many children as possible. Complaints about our services are extremely rare. If for some reason a car doesn’t get picked up as scheduled or a receipt is slow in coming, we take care of it. Nobody can say—and nobody does say – that Kars4Kids fails to perform the service it advertises.
Those that think that Kars4Kids hides its Jewish affiliation should simply look on our website. Many people log onto an organization’s website before they make charitable donations if they want to know who runs the organization and what it does. Kars4Kids’ potential donors, if they follow that procedure, find out immediately that they are giving their money to JOY.
Our site states quite clearly under the why us? page, http://www.kars4kids.org/joy.htm, that our donations benefit JOY. “Your car donation to Kars-4-Kids will benefit Joy for Our Youth. J.O.Y. is a national organization providing for the spiritual, emotional and practical needs of Jewish children from impoverished or dysfunctional families. JOY is a registered national, 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, which was established in 2000.”
Overall, Kars 4 Kids provides the services promised in a timely manner. We work to ensure a smooth experience for our donors, and step in to help if there are ever any problems. We minimize our expenses and maximize on our proceeds to help as many children as possible.
Kar4kids is a scam!
I donated a car with one sole problem in oil leak. Other than that, the car was in great shape and had an MSRP at $4000. Oh, they towed the car quick, alright...
Only later I foundout that the maximum amount of $ you can write off is $500 for ANY car. To be clear, this is not $500 the IRS giving back to you. The $500 is the value that Kar4Kids says that my car was valued at. And you won't find this information until after you went thru with a bunch of papers they provided you when they pick up your car. Of course they do not discuss the vital information on the stack of paper documents they providing you with. What a bunch of ###!
Kar4kids is a scam!
Same thing happen to me, the market value is ~$2000, but the donation only as $500 for the Kar4Kids, someone is pocketing the different!
I am not shocked about their "religion." in fact, I don't car if they are Irish Catholic. it doesn't matter what color your skin is when you are helping children. I really don't see the problem.
