travelled on the AA flight AA 100 from jfk airport at 18.48 on 11th dec.. This flight was to london Heathrow then a connecting flight to Newcastle airport at 10-05 with British airways..
I went into duty free while at jfk and purchased some amber leaf tobacco For $60 and a bottle Of grey goose vodka for.$51. I showed my boarding cards (which were stapled together) to the assistant at the till. She gave me a receipt for the cash and said I would collect my goods at the departure gate.
I arrived at the gate, was asked for the receipt which the assistant took from me And gave me a duty free bag with my purchases in.
I boarded my plane and left the US
When I arrived at LHR and passed through security for my onward flight to Newcastle the security guard said that I could not take the alcohol with me as the bag that I was given it in was not sealed properly..
I told him that this was how I was given the goods and spoke to the manager.
He also told me that the bag has to be fully sealed for an onward flight within the uk..
he took the hoods off me and said I needed to send you an email to claim the cost of the lost money back from you.
I have photos of the bag Given to me and also A photo of a bag that I was shown at Heathrow as to what the hoods should have been put in. I can send these if needed. I also have the name of the security manager who took the item from me
Please can you reply to my email and advise how I can claim this money back from the error of the staff at jfk
Thanks Julie
Desired outcome: Reimbursement of the value of the goods confiscated
