Prior to us moving to the address noted above, we were not informed that there may be flooding coming from the back yard which can possibly come into the home. From my understanding of the law, tenants are to be notified of the possibility of flooding.
We have been told by surrounding neighbors that the owners of this property have knowledge of the flooding. However, we were not notified. The neighbors are willing to testify in a court of law on our behalf.
On August 19, 2022, it rained, and the water did rise on the back patio. On this date the water did not enter the home. However, on August 30, 2022, it rained a lot and the water level on the back patio rose quickly and entered the home. You were notified by phone at 2:29 pm of the incident. After the incident was reported, it took 2-3 hours for you to respond. We had to contact a news reporter to get you to act. You sent out an extraction team to remove the water. But no dehumidifier was provided to protect the tenant from mold and mildew.
Since we have been here, Isbell has not done anything to make repairs that we requested regarding this house. We contacted the office on August 31, 2022, to be provided the insurance listed for this property and never received a call back.
Our main concern is that since you or the owner have knowledge of the flooding, why has nothing been done to prevent this from damaging the property. After all this has happened, nothing has been done and we still have not been contacted. The forecast calls for rain all week.
We will be seeking legal advice from the Code Enforcement and lawyers for damages.
Country of complaint: United States
Desired outcome: Pay for the damages of my personal property and fix the problem causing the flood
