Home Choice Services - Plumber / shower head

Contracted through American Home Shield. The technician came over to address a shower head that would drip. He took the shower head off and put it back on and said it was due to water accumulating in the shower head. After he left I realized that the shower head was now leaking from that connection, the wall pipe and the shower head. It was not leaking from there before he removed it and put it back on. I can't get any manager or supervisor from the company to return my calls to come out and fix the problem that their plumber created.

Desired outcome: Fix the leak

Home Choice Services - Plumbing "experts"

Absolutely the worst service experience I've ever had with the most pitiful excuse for a company; they should be shut down permanently. Unfortunately "Home Choice Services" was assigned to me through an American Home Shield (AHS) service request, otherwise I would have never chosen such a poorly rated contractor with such terrible reviews. AHS also did such a poor job during this process that I will also be canceling my contract with them at the end of the month; I'm tired of AHS sending out the lowest rated contractors who take days to respond and when they finally do show up for service they are unprofessional and inexperienced. This was my experience with Home Choice Services who sent a young and inexperienced plumbing technician ("David") who made a big deal about me asking him to remove his shoes because I have small babies who crawl around on the floor. Once he finally agreed to remove his shoes he proceeded to stumble through his diagnosis of my problem, eventually calling his boss to have him walk through the simple process of identifying it was the faucet itself that had failed which caused my leak issues. He proceeded to completely disassemble the faucet, tossing the pieces randomly across my kitchen counters. Once he was "certain" that it was the faucet he advised me that it needed replaced. He then went on to tell me that the replacement faucet provided by AHS was extremely cheap and nowhere near the quality of the existing (Moen) faucet. He then proceeded to tell me I needed to go to the local Home Depot to buy the same faucet and that the manufacturer (Moen) would reimburse me that cost because their faucets were covered by a lifetime warranty. That seemed like odd advice as I'd never had that type of situation come up on a service call previously, but I decided to take the advice of the "Expert" (LOL, what a joke!) and planned to go to Home Depot immediately so I could get my sink working because that's obviously an important item used all the time in our home. I asked the technician if he would be coming back as soon as I had the new sink and he said he'd have to clear it through his office but it would not be an issue. After the technician left I decided to call the manufacturer (Moen) to make sure I had the accurate information and to make sure I followed the right steps to be properly reimbursed. Imagine my anger and frustration when they told me that the warranty only applies to the original homeowner when thee fixtures are installed by the builder.  WOW! I was so angry that this technician gave me the wrong information I immediately called their office and told them the situation and the office manager ("Elizabeth") assured me that they would make the situation right. That was a complete lie because not only did Elizabeth fail to make the situation right, she made it as difficult and painful as possible for me. Over the course of the next 3 days I had to go back and forth on more than a dozen phone calls between Home Choice Services and AHS in an attempt to get this contractor to simply return to my home and finish the original service call by completely removing the faulty faucet and replacing it with the faucet provided by AHS. Eventually AHS called the contractor Home Choice Services while I was on the line and instructed them to come out and finish this service call; I had asked to be assigned to a new contractor because of such a poor experience by this request was declined and I was assured by AHS that Home Choice Services would finish the job. 4 days after the technician (David) had come to my home I still had pieces of my kitchen faucet sitting all over my counter and a non-functioning kitchen sink. After AHS had instructed Home Choice Services to finish the job I called them directly to schedule their service visit and they refused to come finish the job they had started without me paying them more money! Talk about a scam, what a horrible business from top to bottom. Run away as fast as you can if you see anyone from "home choice services"

As a side note, in several of my phone calls with Home Choice Services I had asked to speak with the owner ("Tony") so I could explain to him my situation and frustrations and he would never take my call. In my last call with the office manager (Elizabeth) I made it very clear that I wanted to speak to the owner (Tony) to find a way to amicably settle this terrible experience I'd had with his company. I made it clear that as a mutual small business owner myself I understood that sometimes when you make a mistake (as they did, sending out an inexperienced technician who had no idea what he was doing and gave false information and guidance for me to follow) you have to take accountability to fix that mistake. At least that's what a ethical business owner does who's concerned about the reputation of their business, it's clear that Tony doesn't care about those things for Home Choice Services and the proof is here in these wretched ratings. I gave this company an opportunity to make things right and the owner did not even have the courage to call me and speak with me directly which is why I've taken the time to write out this long review (something I rarely do).

In the end, I did eventually go to my local Home Depot and purchased a new faucet on my own. I personally removed the old one and replaced it with the new and everything's working great! If you've read this review I hope it was helpful and I hope that you never use Home Choice Services or American Home Shield because all you'll get with those companies is a lot of pain and suffering!

Same bad experience with both American Home Shield and Home Choice Services. Stay away, far far away.

Service Request through American Home Shield. The technician showed up and refused to wear a mask. Then he installed a brand new water heater and left the wires exposed. His response, "I'm not an electrician". The company did not submit a permit request through the City of Orlando Permit Department. When I called, they informed me that they didn't have to submit documents for a permit. Stay clear of this company! I had to hire another company to come out and complete the job. I would not recommend Home Choice Services at all.

I agree! By far the worst company ever. American Home Shield goes with the bottom feeders.
