After being loyal customers of Hambleton Handyman for over seven years, my wife and I were stunned by the level of disrespect and disorganization we recently experienced. We hired them to investigate and repair a leak in our staircase ceiling. The technician who came out was personable and competent, he identified the issue as a leak from a UV pipe connected to our attic HVAC unit, cut a square section of the ceiling, and secured the leak. So far, so good.
But then the problems began.
He was supposed to return the next day, or the day after to patch the drywall. Not only did he fail to return, but he also took the drywall piece with him without informing us. We assumed it was to match the paint, even though we had already shown him the correct paint, and he agreed it was sufficient. That assumption turned out to be generous.
The company then rescheduled twice, each time pushing the repair further into the future. When we expressed frustration, they told us the technician was on another job, and that their policy is to “finish a job once they start it.” That’s rich, considering they started our job and left it incomplete.
When we asked for our drywall piece back so we could hire someone else, they suddenly offered to send someone out immediately, if we promised to keep using their service. This proved they could have resolved the issue earlier but chose not to. And in lieu of such a request, we declined.
No apology. No discount. No accountability.
And now, weeks later, they still haven’t returned the drywall piece or contacted us again. This is not just poor service; it is manipulative and unprofessional. We’ve paid for work that remains unfinished, and we’re left with a hole in our ceiling and a bitter taste in our mouths.
We even shared this review with the company's President before posting to see if there would be any managerial input, but there was no response at all.
Avoid Hambleton Handyman if you value reliability, integrity, or basic customer respect.
