I tried starting a gofundme account for a friend in need of financial support due to ongoing medical bills. Her husband has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and in need of surgery to which she doesn't have near enough medical insurance. Setting up the gofundme account for her was easy with the AI tool helping write the storyline. The account started receiving donations to which gofundme wanted a donation from the giver as well as taking a percentage from the donation for the fund. This would have been bad enough, but when I opened a savings account to deposit the funds, gofundme would not accept the routing or account numbers. I confirmed with the bank the numbers were correct, but the AI help system was no help and just acted like a dog chasing its tail. I finally reached a human representative, was told to upload bank documents, then was told I would need a certified, signed bank official document plus my I.D. plus ...I don't even remember. I was so mad. I deleted the gofundme account. All the money sent is supposed to go back to the givers, but who knows. Since I gave some as well, I'm going to watch my bank account to see if a refund does happen. My advice, avoid gofundme.
Recommendation: Avoid gofundme
