On 8/24/2010, at 3p.m., Gerry's Food Pantry affiliated with the Holy Rosary Church located in Rochester, NH 03867, denied Hays-Davias a needy family food, because they did not live in the same city, but lived a town over from the food pantry. The family's main concern was their under weight child, but the three angry volunteers continued to say you are getting no food unless you can prove you live in the City of Rochester turning the family away to starve. The family stated that towards the end of each month they run out of food.

Why should a food pantry be dealing in the stock market?

Regardless of constant flow of people, food pantries are there to help everyone, not certain people. Food pantries are not stock market agencies and are not suppose to deal and trade in the stock market, plus receive assistance from the UnitedWay and non-profit organizations which is against the law in the United States.

Gerry's Food Pantry is listed on Manta.com as a stock market business doing business as a charitable organization openly not caring who notices them.

Non-profit organizations simply are not allowed to scam money from the US government and goods in order to operate a food pantry.

I have gone to Gerry's and found them to be extremely helpful and wonderful people. I understand some pantries help all, while some can only help their towns, their towns, and close surrounding towns, or all towns it all depends on the organizations. I don't think it's right to degrade a place that truly helps people without looking into their rules first. I know a friend who went there the first time from this city and was helped but was told to bring documents for the second visit, she neglected to do this and was not help, but rant and raved and called them all sorts of all bad names to people, all because she didn't do what they required. So I suppose you all will say they should have still helped her too! Rules are put there so they can help the people that follow them.

i see food pantries take good donations and promptly put them out of sight for themselves. It's true that some Pantry organizers take the good donations for themselves and give you the expired dented soup cans and Old cans of tuna your cat would not even eat. Meanwhile they get cash donations and quality food and merchandise you will never see. Just saying, I've seen it. someone should do a documentary on it.

Food pantries give out tons of cans of off brand expired food that won't feed you or your family for more than a day or so... they're not doing too well. And stop judging people that need it or settle for it... everyone has a story and not everyone can get a job. You people should grow a heart and stop being so snippy.

If a hungry family comes into a pantry they should get food. Pantries are funded by donors. Additionally i'm sure many of these pantries cherry pick the good donations for themselves and leave the leftovers for the hungry.
