G24 Innovations review: Failed solar battery backup and charger for mobile phones and MP3's

Interested in a compact solar power suppy for a few years. I bought this Power Curve, model CHG 24008 off of the clearance table in a sporting goods store last summer, I believe. About 4 by 5 inches and 1 inch thick at the battery. Total failure. the instructions say to charge the first time for at least 6 hours from a USB port (I always follow the manual). There is scant info in the accompanying paperwork. somewhere in it, they claim that it will hold a charge for 30 days. There are a variety of adaptors for electronics, but not a full range of them. Nothing for Sony Ericsson phones, but but USB and mini USB adaptors. But it doesn't work. Nothing more than a few minutes for cell phones and several minutes for my Sansisk Clip, a very small MP3. I am currently in the Caribbean, where this was to be used, and the unit got PLENTY of sun, 8 to 10 hours a day, when I tried to charge it. The company has a very narrow website, a Welch location. No reponse to an email. The company's name on the unit is G24 Innovations . Since the point of this kind of development is to sell the technology to Chinese manufacturers, take the money and run, the physical characteristics may change. The unit is light gray with a half-in strap or hook or peg hole in it.(the only smart design feature0 and it has a good rubber pad/gripper on either verticle side. Total failure. Trying to be fair, the solar battery reading lamp that I bought here for someone with intermittent electical service is just as much of a failure. Ikea garbage, with a "we'll give one to a poor kid in Africa" note attached to the overpriced lamp. Not a review, but two out of 2 portable solar power failures.
