As far as I use this tool, I find it quite useful, ya know? It always helps me figure out how to do everything correctly, which is pretty darn handy. So, we decided to give Freecycle a try and ended up getting ourselves a nifty little waste incinerator. This thing is perfect for using in a greenhouse, you know? It's like one of those solid fuel stoves, where you chuck in a mix of garbage and wood chips. We went for a smaller size, just to test it out, and turns out our own trash is more than enough to keep it going. We even thought about using it to get rid of our neighbor's junk too, but that's a story for another day.

It used to be so easy, you know? Back in the day, all you had to do was shoot off an email and bam! Your message was on its way. But now, things have gotten a bit more complicated. I mean, seriously, why do I have to log in every single time I want to send a message? It's a real pain in the you-know-what. And to make matters worse, I couldn't even change that pesky setting. Ugh!

So, there I was, all ready to give away this awesome memory foam mattress worth a cool ?100. I had been waiting all morning, eagerly anticipating the arrival of Callie997, or as she likes to be called, Gemma. But guess what? She never showed up! Not a single message from her. Talk about a major letdown.

Frustrated and annoyed, I decided to take matters into my own hands and complain about Gemma to the moderator. But guess what? I kept getting this stupid error message over and over again. It was like a broken record, playing the same tune of disappointment. And to top it all off, my post was completely inaccessible. I couldn't even change the status from "taken." How's that for a kick in the teeth?

Overall, my experience with Freecycle has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. Sure, it's a great platform for giving away stuff you no longer need, but the whole logging in thing and the technical glitches can really put a damper on things. I just wish they would make it easier for us regular folks to navigate and communicate without all these unnecessary hurdles. But hey, I guess that's life, right? You win some, you lose some.

I recently had an experience with Freecycle.org that left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I wanted to give away my living room set, so I made a post about it. However, I quickly realized that I had made a typo in my post and wanted to fix it. Simple enough, right? Well, not quite.

When I tried to edit my post to correct the typo, I was met with a rejection message stating that it was a "Duplicate Post." Confused and annoyed, I reached out to the site's support team to express my frustration. They responded by explaining that they are all volunteers and don't deserve to be treated with abuse. Fair enough, I thought, but what about my post?

They suggested that I repost my offer, so I decided to give it another try. To my dismay, my second post was also deleted for being a duplicate. At this point, I was beyond frustrated. I couldn't believe that my genuine attempt to give away a full living room set was being thwarted by what seemed like a simple misunderstanding.

Feeling heated and fed up, I couldn't help but let my frustration get the best of me. I ended up cursing out the moderator, which I admit was not the best way to handle the situation. However, I felt pushed to that point by the subpar moderation I had experienced.

Now, sadly, my living room set will likely end up being thrown away because I refuse to go through the hassle of posting it a third time. It's disheartening to think that someone could have benefited from it, but due to the issues I encountered with the site's moderation, that opportunity has been lost.

If you decide to use Freecycle.org, my advice would be to avoid trying to correct any typos in your posts. It seems that the moderation staff struggles to differentiate between an edit and a new post. It's a shame because the concept of the site is great, but the execution leaves much to be desired.

This website used to be real easy to use, had a fancy & simple interface and was super user friendly. You got a plain old list of stuff up for grabs and if you wanted to check something out, you just clicked on it for more deets. No frills, just plain and functional.

BUT, they went and messed it all up in May this year, now it's slow as molasses, the interface is a real pain in the neck, and it loads pictures of everything, even things that are long gone (who in their right mind thought that was a good idea, gobbling up your precious data for no good reason?). Plus, you only get a measly few items to load and gotta keep clicking that darn 'more' button, and let me tell ya, navigating this site is a real nightmare.

I used to be a regular user, both giving away my stuff and sometimes snagging a few goodies, but now this website is so darn awful that I sadly ended up chucking things into the landfill at my local dump 'cause the website is just that bad!

If those freecycle web designers happen to stumble upon this review, then pretty please bring back the old website and get rid of this new monstrosity once and for all!

I've been a member of Freecycle for like 10 years, man. I think I found out about it from this column called "Everyday Cheapskate" by Mary Hunt. It's a pretty simple way to let other members know if you got stuff to give away, and it's easy to respond to other people's posts too. Sometimes I do some cleaning and list things on there. I think I usually get at least one response to my posts, if I remember right.

So, for those who don't know about Freecycle, you gotta sign up for an account, but it's free, bro. When you make a post, they send an email to all the members in your town group. If someone's interested, you used to just hit reply on your email and then the person who posted it would get an email from you. Then you could talk back and forth through email to figure out how to pick up the item.

Oh, and when something's not available anymore, the person who posted it can update the listing to say it's taken. Then they send an email to all the members to let them know it's gone.

But here's the thing, man. In the past year or so, they stopped sending out emails when something's taken. Now, if you try to email the person who posted it to ask if it's still available, you'll get a response saying it's not there anymore.

I don't post stuff a lot and I hardly ever respond to posts, but lately I noticed you can't just hit reply on the Freecycle email anymore. Now, if you wanna show interest in something, you gotta log in to your account, find the listing, and then send a message. It's a bit of a hassle, you know?

A few days ago, I made three posts offering stuff. The first one was for some sheet and pillowcase sets, the second one was for some framed pics, and the third one was for fragrances. The third one got approved right away and I saw it in my email inbox. But the sheet post didn't get approved until late at night, like almost 10 p.m. And the next morning, the framed pic post was still not approved. When I checked my account, it was gone, man. Now, I thought maybe I forgot to hit the final button to submit the post after I typed everything and attached the pic. But once you submit a post, you get a screen showing how it'll look when it goes out, and I'm pretty sure I saw that screen. So, I messaged the moderators, telling them I was surprised my third post went through, my first post took 11 hours to get approved, and my second post disappeared mysteriously. It's been three days and I still haven't heard back from them. Based on other reviews I read, I don't think they'll ever reply, dude.

Another thing that's changed, and not for the better, is that when you make a post, you don't get a big box to write in anymore. Now, you get this one-line high horizontal box. You can type a lot, like almost 1000 characters, but you can only see a small part of it. So, when you're done typing and you wanna go back to the beginning to check for mistakes, you gotta use the cursor to go backwards and then go back again to read what you wrote.

In the past year or so, since they changed the web format in spring 2021, I've noticed fewer emails for new Freecycle posts. I think people are moving away from Freecycle and going to other platforms like those Facebook buy nothing groups. They're easier to use, man. I'm not saying Facebook is perfect, but listing stuff and responding to other people's posts is more user-friendly there.

So, I'm not gonna close my Freecycle account just yet, but I think I'm gonna stop posting things on there and use Facebook instead. I might still reply if there's something I want though.
