I ordered a large sandwich at Firehouse Sub. She got the order wrong and gave me a medium. I did not realize this until I had already paid. I told the employee that she got my order wrong. She offered to give me a small sandwich to make up for the large sandwich. I said I would prefer to have a full large sandwich and would pay the difference. She went to the cash register and I paid what I thought was the difference. She rang up the price of a small sandwich. That is not the difference between a large and medium sandwich. I looked at the menu board and realized that the large sandwich was $13.89 plus tax. (may be an outdated price, may be $14.30) I had already paid $19.44. She overcharged me by about $3.71. I brought it to her attention and asked to get back the difference. She turned the situation over to another girl who called her manager on the phone. She came back and said her manager would not let her give us back the difference. I asked why not just cancel the two transactions and ring up a single transaction for a large sandwich. She called her manager again. The employee came back and said she did not have the authority to do that. That we would have to come back in the morning. Frustrated, I decided that I did not want the sandwich after all, I want a full refund. She refused saying I had to come back the next morning to get a refund. (What if I was on a trip? Would I have to get a hotel room for the night to get a refund the next morning?) We left the sandwich there and went home.
The next morning we were not able to get to the store, but went as soon as we could that afternoon. When we went into the store the manager was already in a foul mood. We asked for the refund. Whereas she was willing to give a refund that morning, she was not willing to give the refund now. Frustrated we continued to press her for the refund. Finally, she told us to leave and called the police to have us trespassed. We asked to speak to the owner but they refuse to tell us who it is and how to can contact him.
I contacted Corporate Customer Service who expedited the situation to the owner. All all the owner did was have the same manager call us who was just as uncooperative to work with us as she was at the store! The owner has not contacted us. This is now become more that just a refund. This is about respect, justification and just plain old common customer service courtesy. We are senior citizens. My husband is a veteran. I believe as seniors we deserve some respect, if not that, then respect as paying customers!
Country of complaint: United States
Desired outcome: To speak with the owner of the store. A refund as well as the trespass rescinded and lifted. An apology would not hurt.
