Finity Communications, Inc. of Portland, OR faces questions about the security of medical data for one million Medicaid patients in a southwestern state after it was revealed that a troubled database employee named Joshua Poland told a fellow employee named Eric Azinger about committing crimes by hiding personal assets from creditors and using drugs in a series of conversations that took place in the open office.
Their conversations were overheard by a third employee located nearby, and Joshua Poland later decided that employee posed a threat and got the employee fired.
The troubled database employee, Joshua Poland, had previously been reprimanded by the State of Oregon and had his business dissolved twice, according to publicly available records on the Oregon Secretary of State’s website.
Questions have been raised about the security of the medical data in the hands of an individual with questionable ethics.
